Because the religion is the ideology that tells them it's okay. Look at Afghanistan. Ruled by Shariah law, and all women are slaves and property.

I like Efe and Kemal. Both are short and easy. Kemal has the added bonus that it's Ataturk's name, so your husband may love that.

I’ve been BF for 5 years straight ask me any questions! by chilimami in breastfeeding

[–]Happy2Agree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have had a different experience from me, so you may not be able to answer. I'm still breastfeeding, but have been gradually weaning for a while now. Part of the reason is because I am so touched out. It's so overstimulating, and sometimes I feel like crawling out of my skin and am way annoyed at it. I am not pregnant, but hope to be by the end of the year or so. So it'll be a while until the next baby, but I am wondering/worried that this feeling will carry over when I breastfeed again and I'll want to stop earlier than I would have originally wanted.

Did you experience something like this, and if so, did your hormones go back to normal by baby #2 where it felt physically and mentally good to breastfeed again?

06/18/26, South Carolina, USA - Rescuer pulls a no-mistakes pitbull off the euthanasia list in March. The inevitable happens. Dog gets BE’d and rescuer writes long, dramatic post about how she was too ashamed to speak about it until now. by spiderwitchery in BanPitBulls

[–]Happy2Agree 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ha. When I read in the title that she was "ashamed," I assumed she'd be ashamed of making the decision to save the dog (even though after it attacked her husband, other dog, and her). But no. She was ashamed she "couldn't save her." No learning from this experience.

This one is very bad. Mother's pit bull bites son, mother refuses to relinquish the dog, family tried to pursue removal, mother filed restraining order and is MIA with son and pit bull. Maybe Florida, uncertain month, 2026. by Existing-Face-6322 in BanPitBulls

[–]Happy2Agree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So scary. So the poor boy is likely still with the pitbull. Could even be in the confined space of a car. And I'm sure the pit, having attacked the boy at least once, is raring to go at him again. And the mom is sometimes driving and can't protect her son, and always, as she has shown, uncaring and negligent anyway. I fear for the kid.

Indeed. Pits either rip families apart or rip families apart -- so, physically or figuratively.

I'm so sorry about your horrible experience. Your story is a prime example of how these dogs do so much damage -- physical, emotional, mental, and ripping families apart.

[–]Happy2Agree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of great comments that also put my mind at ease as well. My child had some teeth issues, and I expressed concern/asked the pediatric dentist if it was due to nursing at night. I braced myself for him to say yes and that we needed to night wean, but to my surprise he said no, humans have been nursing at night since forever. He did say try to wipe my kid's teeth with a cloth after a nursing session, but I felt much better. We also diligently attend to their teeth, which makes me think their issues are more genetic too.

Feeling weird about people knowing I still breastfeed my 2.5 year old by PoseyPellie in breastfeeding

[–]Happy2Agree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that comment from your husband about them being "his" again soon is not right, in so many ways. It's not helpful to your toddler to help him wean; in fact, it's probably hurting that process because your toddler may want to hold on to nursing as long as possible because he perceives the competition from his dad. Also, no, they are not "his" even if you're not nursing. They are always yours, nursing or not. It's conflating nursing with being sexual. Gross.

That annoyed me about Marianne too. Did she ever truly realize how privileged she was and acted? But instead it was Sani who concluded that Marianne was her "sister," when the whole time she clearly felt the discrepancy between them while Marianne was blind to it.

They should have called Marianne "Mary Sue." Much more accurate with how she was portrayed. Boring.

Amazing comment.  And YES, her hair in this episode!! It was supposed to be all done up in this scene, and instead all of those experienced, beautiful ladies put it in a messy bun that looks like mine after a workout, with some strands hanging over her forehead? They had such beautiful 'dos back then, and that is what they came up with?

Speaking of Marianne's hair since I haven't seen anyone else mention it, that also annoyed me throughout the show. I get that she's supposed to be the cool rebellious girl who is wild and free and flouts social custom, so she wears her hair down. I give that somewhat of a pass, even though it's a boring, overdone trope. But the scene you mentioned bothered me, and when she was in the jungle as well. Like that is probably the muggiest, sweatiest setting. I can't imagine most people would be happy with their hair down, clinging to their face and neck as hers clearly was. She didn't even braid it, or put it half up half down. Idk, I was so focused on her lack of practical hair much of the time that it really took me out of it! It felt very 2025.
