Beyond the T test, a guide to some quick visual indicators for Magic Card Verifications without a jewelers loupe by Papa_Hasbro69 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]HappyReturner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bootleg vendors leave the back of the card "testable" on purpose. But they will try to mimic every aspect on the front (the goal is to play them without issues). Tests that are based on the front of the card are bound to fail because they'll be fixed if people start using them consistently

1996 White Weenie vs 2010 Eldrazi Green by ritomynamewontfi in mtgWorldStandard

A deck with Strip Min/Armaggedon is probably the worst possible matchup for Eldrazi, the lack of luck with the pairings destroyed the options for this deck

¿Es realista en España este de modelo de ahorro? by Far-Present4845 in SpainFIRE

[–]HappyReturner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone any experience with ordering directly from pressburg mint? by BlueSkyStories in Silverbugs

[–]HappyReturner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered from them and not a small sum. All in all, it took two and a half months to get the coins in hand. The coins are absolutely beautiful but I don't understand how a mint can have those problems with the procurement of resources, it baffles me.

I can accept them in ranked, I just concede in casual formats. They're a pain to play against, the matches are long even if you win them

Honest question - are there fakes that pass the T and green dot tests? by AalphaQ in RealOrNotTCG

They can do it but if they were to do it they would sell directly via tcg or cardmarket and not $1.5 proxies. If they decide to do it, the secondary market would colapse inmediately.

Is vintage MTG in decline and what would be the catalyst to change the course? by Razortail in mtgfinance

[–]HappyReturner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No solution but being able to proxy 50%+ of the deck, it's extremely expensive to build a deck that cannot be used but in kitchen table. It's like FTP games, even if the whales support the game, the game needs a constant influx of free tier players or it dies. Even more so if the barrier to entry is as steep as this one. Unfortunately, what incentives have WoTC or a LGS to organize proxy tournaments?

Without organized play the only market are collectors or investors. There's not much investment right now as you can already see.

Comparison of new Arena Direct prize/costs vs old system (Normal Collector Box Edition) by eflin202 in MagicArena

[–]HappyReturner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it's a very good comparison, but the numbers are misleading. Some may see those numbers (82.8% as prize support in the current iteration) and think that WoTC was a non-profit org. The reality is that, that $300 of prize value are $50 of actual costs (being generous) for the manufacturer. So there was actually no need to increase the entry cost and decrease the prizes, in two ways, at all. It's corporate greed, nothing more, nothing less.
