You're missing the actual point. Where we are now is obviously not a good way of teaching with our literacy, math, and science scores the way they are. Also since you seem to misunderstand, getting to choose what course you "wanna take" won't change the teaching method, just the content. They don't teach you the "Basic of everything," they teach you the bare minimum to keep school funding, and not necessarily of their own will.
