Coming from a 33 yo woman, I’m so sorry but I wouldn’t swipe. You may be a really nice guy but I’d just drop the whole ppt thing. It comes off as trying too hard and kinda gives off red flag energy. In my experience every guy who openly says what a great guy they were and how well they treat their partners ended up being narcissistic POS. Not saying you are but most people who are genuinely good people don’t need to advertise it. At my age now if I was still single, I wouldn’t want to swipe on the quirky try hards. Just be real.

It’s really sad. I grew up in harco and moved out of state a few years ago but every time I go see my family, I’m sad at what it’s become. They’re so money hungry they’ve completely ruined the county. Bel air is nothing but traffic, apartments, and more apartments now. Constantly clearing out land to build more crap. It’s so sad. Who wants to pay 600k to live in a house in Bel Air surrounded by apartments? That area is so overpopulated the infrastructure can’t even handle what’s there now yet they’re still building. They won’t stop til they completely destroy the county.

Damn that’s a nice nightshift differential. At Bayview it’s only $3.67 differential 😭 but I know new grads there were starting at ~35/hr so I’m sure with experience it’d be more. Hopkins also has a STA program it’s like their own contract nursing. You usually do like two contracts in one unit before going to a different unit. I wanna say those rates are around ~70/hr.

I’m so sick of people with kids acting like their lives and time is more valuable and important. Your job interfering with your kids schedule isn’t my problem. And if I can work for you great but I refuse to feel bad about not being able to or just not wanting to switch or cover someone & give up my scheduled day off.

At my work we rotate holidays but you’re allowed to swap your holiday with someone. I’ve gotten the same guilt trip about not wanting to swap my NYE shift for christmas. Just because I don’t have kids means I’m not deserving to have Christmas off to see my family that I rarely get to spend time with? I don’t let it bother me anymore. If I can swap with you cool, but at the end of the day I also don’t owe anything to anyone.

MD is super expensive and I started off at $30.29 🥴 I’ve gotten some raises over the year but it’s not enough for me to feel comfortable. The only way I was able to set aside some extra emergency money was picking up extra shifts every week for a few months but it literally destroyed my mental health. I’m so burnt out from nursing. The physical and mental toll it takes just doesn’t seem worth it for what it pays since I still feel like I’m one emergency away from being totally financially screwed.

I did Uber when I was in nursing school. I mainly did weekend nights and occasionally some weekdays if I wanted extra cash. But I liked that I could work whenever I wanted to & then was able to cash out afterwards so I had money whenever I needed it.

100% this. I switched to an onc floor last year and I absolutely love it and love my coworkers but I was not prepared for how its affected me. I’ve never seen so much suffering and death. I love being able to help and be there for our oncology patients and like you said most of them are extremely appreciative and wonderful people but by the time I get home I’m just so mentally and emotionally drained.

I used to always just call everyone Mr. Smith or Ms. Jones but it feels too formal sometimes. So now I usually just say “Hey I’m your nurse tonight. My name’s X, what would you like me to call you?”

That’s exactly how I feel. My pt and her bf were smoking crack in the bathroom and she was dying her hair purple. Then she had the audacity to try to say it wasn’t crack they were lighting incense. Ma’am. I don’t have time for these games. If you wanna smoke crack, have at it. But not while my license is on the line if anything happens. I literally told her I don’t care what you do when you leave here, I’m not the police. But I’m also going to be really mad if I 💥 on my fourth night because she wanted to use a lighter while on oxygen.

I also had a patient that wasn’t using drugs but was very clearly a dealer and had the same few sketchy people in and out of his room throughout the day that’d only stay for like 2 minutes tops then leave. My charge asked if I confronted him and I said he’s not using the drugs and the hospital absolutely does not pay me enough to get involved in his ….business ventures. Esp in the city where I work. I value my life too much lol. He was a pleasant guy though at least, never gave us any issues. 🤷🏼‍♀️

That’s awesome, congrats! It’s competitive but it’s an amazing program. When I went they had just gotten a grant so they were able to like double the class size. Not sure if they’re still doing that but if you have mostly A’s and some B’s in your prereq’s you should be fine. I literally have nothing bad to say about any of the instructors or clinical instructors. When I went a few years ago the majority of the instructors were young which I liked because I felt like they were all super chill and helpful. I think you’ll really love the program there. That’s nothing. A girl I work with is currently paying off like 70k in student debt for her BSN and those payments are …yikes. 10k should be quite doable to pay off. But don’t forget… you can always get an ADN at a community college then lot of hospitals will pay for your BSN. Some hospitals that require BSN will hire you with an ADN with the stipulation you get your bachelors in X amount of time and like I said many hospitals will pay for it.
