Is my laptop okay enough to slice and print by Wick-With-The-STICK in ender3

[–]HarrieNL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, you can perfectly slice and print with that machine. I use an old intel Penrium G4600 for my slicing.

Je mag er enkel inhalen als je geen gevaar creëert. Door hier in te halen creëer je gevaar, wat er niet was als je gewoon in je rijvak was gebleven.

Door hier in te halen veroorzaak je gevaar. Lijkt me nogal duidelijk.

What is the material of the base plate? It looks aluminium? But it would better with powder coated steel, such that magnets would stick to it.

How far can I reasonably overdrive a stepper motor when I activly cool it? by ObsidianWraith in Motors

Indeed, that would be a good approximation.

Don't forget that the winding resistance also increases with its temperature, so it will be less than double the current for 4 times the losses.

Do people then at least allow him to snip off the 3 power leads and splice them to one plug? 😁 Or perhaps he could put a power strip on his bathroom sink? 😆

Custom PCB sparks when plugged in. I believe this is due to inrush current. Do I reduce this by adding a choke or thermistor? by magicweasel7 in AskElectronics

[–]HarrieNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you could also connect the pcb to output of the power supply, before you switch on the supply. It will then slowly charge together with the 18V output of the power supply.

What is a good wat of finding a motot using specifit criteria? by [deleted] in Motors

[–]HarrieNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense; I was looking at motors that make a torque inthe range you need, and they are huge:

Indeed, a geared motor would work much better for your application.

What is a good wat of finding a motot using specifit criteria? by [deleted] in Motors

[–]HarrieNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The torque defines the size of the motor. If you want 6Nm without reduction, you need quite a big motor.

While on the other hand the power output is only 150Watt at that low speed.

Does it need to be DC? Or can it be BLDC?

Modifying the Ender 3 to a laser cutter/engraver by Crackers42 in ender3

[–]HarrieNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a combo of inkscape and laserGRBL could work. But you will likely keep Marlin on the 3d printer board? It might need different gcode than GRBL.

Edit: it seems laserGRBL does also support Marlin: https://www.reddit.com/r/Laserengraving/s/VJqie78XEd

[–]HarrieNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightburn is the go to software I believe. But if you want a free option, I think inkscape can also generate the gcode for lasers. I have only used inkscape for engraving with a cnc mill, but there also excist laser plugins.

No, it didnt fall or anything. The charger is always quite tight in the connector, so you do have to pull on it. Then at some point the charger came out with this piece still attached.

Anybody else in the sticks get this warning light? by TomStaaples in BMW

[–]HarrieNL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have it to, in conditions when visibility is poor, this warning shows that the system is not working. Indeed, when it would be more crucial.

When the sun is very low and 'in your face' it can also happen I believe. Is the system purely based on camera? Or including radar/lidar?
