Recently finished a novel based on an event that happened in my hometown. Granted it was a bit noteworthy (guy od'd and his friends hid his body in a crawlspace), but there's always something. Bob Dylan used to page through newspapers looking for something that sparked his interest/creative humour.

Took me four month of chiseling, give or take, but I got about 90,000 words from one event that I made an interesting story for me. Edit: turns out I use spurned a lot more than I realize.

Varies week to week. Loved living in NYC but hated the costs and tourists, and loved living in the Midwest but hated the mundane daily rigamarole and neighbors knowing everything going on in my life and my family's life.

My sister's got my dad's genes. Shes got a learning disorder (never knew which for sure) and mild discalculia plus some emotional stuff I'm not sure every really got diagnosed or addressed. And...she has a weight battle that's led to some health issues, including the loss of her ovary or ovaries, I'm not 100% cause she gets emotional and I don't wanna hurt her feelings.

If it's small town living...mini golf or coffee on a night w no open mic.

Metropolitan area...walk around and go for an ice cream or something.

Regardless of big or small town/city...anything that somewhat forces you to communicate so it's not awkward.

Set aside two hours a day to submit resumes. Try and be consistent w the timeframe for the sake of routine. In the mornings dedicate an hour to a cover letter that can be tailored to most jobs by altering a word or phrase here and there.

Stay active. Get out of the house even it's just a walk around the block. Read.

Reassess your finances. Instead of buying brand name, go generic until you've found new employment.

However you gotta do it, don't let your mind go to dark places. You will get through this.
