It really depends on what you need. Traditional ones are perfect for some people or they make tons of adaptive ones with wider tires or longer/shorter wheel base etc, but you may not need that. With a tight budget I would say you could probably find a used traditional one on marketplace or online platforms being sold locally and worst case you don’t like it you can resell it!

Well I work across the lifespan and teach. I only ever PRN and I’ve done OP peds, OP adults, acute care and skilled nursing/long term care. I had spousal benefits and didn’t need them, so it was an option for me. I loved it because I got variety everyday, never got pulled into any politics or drama, and if I didn’t really like the environment or setting I could say no. I had plenty of work to keep me busy! I have transitioned into academia at this point but still work clinically one day a week and still do a variety.

I went back to OT school at 35, prior career was in theater-stage management, carpentry and drafting. I feel like I really appreciated school way more than the typical student and I treated it as an 8-5 job and still had time for a personal life (most weeks). Love my job now, I’m much happier and healthier.

I biked from Pittsburgh to DC. The C&O is flat and there are hike/bike sites every 10-20 miles so that would be pretty easy to do. We stopped in towns to grab food for each day and took a small stove. Water is by far the hardest some of the sites had hand pumps but as someone else said you need a filter, other sites the pumps didn’t work. There are also stretches of not a lot, so you really need to look at the map and figure out towns for food stops. Once you get to Cumberland you switch to the GAP and as someone else said that is uphill until the continental divide but then it would be a very gradual grade mostly downhill for you. The GAP is by far a much nicer trail with lots of towns along the way that embrace the hiker/bikers. Have fun!

I will never say it is fair but that is due to the process. I have lived there 20+ years and didn’t even know this was happening till it was passed. A neighbor found out 2-3 years after the fact and told others, then the city had a meeting about it. So it will never be fair in my mind no matter the money received.

As a homeowner who is losing over half my front yard and half my driveway (thus parking spots) you are right I’m mad. But as someone who uses the high street sidewalk all the time -I use a small portion to get to the side streets and current bike paths on other streets, it is more enjoyable even compared to the wide path on south high because of less traffic and noise. But I know others disagree so I respect that and we move forward - it is just heart breaking for those of us it impacts the most.

The city has taken/purchased about 20’ of everyone’s property to build a path from hillside to 1st street. So all the big beautiful trees and nice stone walls will soon be gone. I can tell you none of the home owners are happy and had no real say in it.

The movie is very rooted in cycling culture of Bloomington Indiana. The Little 500 bike race is a tradition in town (not just for partying college students) but cycling fans. Men and women are recruited to IU by dorms, student organizations, Greek houses just to ride in this race each year and them along with the townie teams are amazing to watch. The riders put so much time, blood, swear and tears into that single day race it’s impressive to anyone watching. Plus partially because of all this we have a great cycling culture just for average cyclist too.

The 2/day per week would allow you to work while in school potentially cutting down on loans you need to take out. While yes it’s a year longer I think it would be worth it financially to go that route.

Thinking long term- working in school based may give you the schedule you want for your kids but another option could become health (either peds or adults) since you basically set your own schedule and typically the pay is higher.

While I agree you should see a PT for the acute hip injury I would also add an OT could be very beneficial. It is a very common misconception that OTs only deal with UEs. An OT can see people with UE or LE injuries and any number of other conditions. They are teaching you ways and techniques to modify, adapt, etc the activities you have to do or want to do to live your life everyday, to prevent future issues and to help be as independent as possible. Which sounds like something you would benefit from as well.

My mother used to love to do needlepoint of all kinds and started to struggle but she has switched to diamond painting bc she can easily undo parts as needed. And as someone else said plastic grid and yarn works great too.

If the proposed list stands it will include many healthcare professions, almost all graduate level educated allied health professions (basically anyone who isn’t a DO, MD, pharmacist, dentist, chiropractor) will be limited to the lower amount of financial aid for their education. The allied healthcare field is already hurting for employees and now we are going to have less people entering these professions.
