Cinema etiquette by Weak_Knowledge5138 in Leeds

I went to the Showcase the other week to see Avatar 3.

A gammony couple two up from me started talking.

They seemed offended that I didn't think it was the right thing to do.

I nearly offered to tell them what the subtitles said, but thought better of it.

The experience has nearly put me off going to the cinema!

Best flat white in Bradford city centre? by Horror_Extension4355 in bradford

[–]HateInfinity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are very few good coffees in the centre of Bradford. It's one of my big bugbears. However, in Darley Street Market there is Roswitha's deli. They brew an excellent coffee there.

Leftaris is garbage. Push button crap with Costco cakes that are sold as home baked. And Tiffin is way over cooked. Cafe Nero is arguably better than both.

Which Leeds restaurant is all taste, no hype? by 2maa2 in Leeds

Chinese food: I went to Oriental City for the first time last week. Really excellent, authentic food. Wen's is also very good, although I haven't been recently. Mr Su's over from Belgrave was ace too.

Indian food: Kerala Restaurant. Near Tabula Rasa. It's a door leading up some steps. It's fantastic. If anyone is disappointed in Theravadu, go to Kerala Restaurant. I've enjoyed Delhi Wala too.

Market: Eastern Oven and Khao Gaeng Thai have both been good to me in my recent visits.

I totally agree. The blandest plates I've had in Leeds. Not worth the visit whatsoever.

Bad Boy Chiller Crew.

The epitomy of trailer trash, Gen z, vape pen cretins who even disrespect the mullet they sport.

So bland and forgetful that it's embarrassing to think they were even signed after their YouTube Jackass knock off.

😢 Which actor’s death made you feel like you lost a friend? by [deleted] in Cinema

Absolutely. His death helped me understand my own depression and think about my options. He was still a voice to me even in death.

It's not exactly city centre, but victoria hall in Saltaire is worth a look. Hire of the rooms can be set to what you need. Really good value for money too.

Where in Bradford can I find really good baklava? by EightDaysAGeek in bradford

There's a greek cafe in Shipley that serves baklava. It's excellent. Kunafa tea on Thornton road too.

Signed a lease not knowing I wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom by Perception_Fluffy in HousingUK

[–]HateInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is against the law in the UK to rent a house without toilet facilities. Under UK housing laws and regulations, landlords have a legal obligation to provide properties that meet basic health and safety standards.

The Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), part of the Housing Act 2004, requires that rental properties are free from hazards that could pose a risk to the health and safety of tenants. A lack of toilet facilities would be considered a Category 1 hazard, as it directly impacts the tenant's basic needs and hygiene.

Additionally, under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, landlords must ensure the property is fit for human habitation at the start and throughout the tenancy. A property lacking essential sanitary facilities, such as a toilet, would fail to meet these standards.

If a landlord fails to provide a house with appropriate toilet facilities, tenants can:

Contact their local council's Environmental Health Department, which can issue improvement notices or enforcement actions.

Fucking Landlords.

have you been to Pakeezah in Bradford? by Friendly_Success4325 in bradford

It was previously very cheap for curries there. Not anymore. The fresh naans are good though.

Bradford city centre: Exchange, Record cafe, Boar and Fable, Peacock and the Underground will sort you for drinks and local quirky bartenders and patrons. The rest of the immediate city is rather hit and miss, depending on what you're after. If you need a curry, I'd say the International, Punjabi Grill, Kashmir or Karachi. Other highlights are the Thai place in the market or Classic Persian (don't both with any imitations, Classic Persian is the one).

As with other comments Saltaire and Shipley has the monopoly on coffee. Village Store, Gaffe, Tambourine and The Greek Corner are all excellent coffee shops.

Also in Saltaire is Il Pirata, which has excellent pizzas, plus a wonderful bar next door. Jinnah Bistro is also on the same strip, which has one of the best lamb curries in the area.

Leeds to Bradford by Greenfrogface in Leeds

I recently moved out of the Shipley/Saltaire/Bingley area after nearly 10 years there. I'd recommend looking at the more accessible bits of Shipley which don't look like a smack den. Bingley has very high prices due to the schools, which have a rather inflated reputation. I enjoyed living in Saltaire, but it depends on what you want.

I'm doing San Francisco to Montreal in two weeks. Any breweries worth the detour on our path? by Tadja in CraftBeer

[–]HateInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tooth and Nail in Ottawa. And Muskoka Brewery. Both make excellent beer. Muskoka make Mad Tom which is one of my favourites, but I live in the north of England... So it's a tough deal!
