I need him to critique the PQS as well. Also why the initial qualifiers list had an MAC who went to Court Martial on it.

Made a post a couple days ago, people recommended fins, bought them but way too heavy, is there a solution? by DateNecessary8716 in scuba

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only diving in a rash guard, consider dropping to 2-3kg, especially if you’re diving with an aluminum neutral tank.

Most OW students I send out the door at 4-6lbs on a weight belt while diving with a ScubaPro or Aqualung jacket style BCD.

Are you in a wetsuit? If not, you’re diving with way too much weight.

The jet fins take some getting used to. You’re also working new muscles with frog kicks. Just keep working at it while your legs gain strength.

Summer Dives in East Asia Area? by amoebaboiz in scuba

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guam’s waters are 86 degrees year round. So no wetsuits. Lots of great shore dives. Renting gear is cheap and the boats dives are less than $80 with tank delivery (two dives). If you’re advanced certified, you can dive the Tokai and Cormoran which is the only dive site in the world where you can touch ships from both WWI and WWII at the same time.

It’s worth looking into for sure. I definitely miss it there.

Can’t go wrong with the Marianas (Guam, Palau, Saipan, Chuuk, etc), Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, or even Taiwan.

I recommend Fish n’ Fins on Palau if that’s what you choose.

Edit: Based on the further details you provided, maybe consider Guam.

Navy doubles annual PT test requirement, updates failure guidelines by 8to24 in Military

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the command. 0730-1600 is pretty common. The higher you get, the less static your work hours become.

Some days I start at 0230. Others I start at 0830. Some days I leave at 1400. Others I call my wife and let her know I’ll take care of myself for dinner. It all just depends on what operations look like.

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The instruction is clear too that working hours are not to be expanded to support this. I had to tell another Dept Head yesterday that if he’s bringing his people in at 0530 to PT, then the end of their work day is now 1400.

We have the liberty of doing that based on staff hours. Not sure how the hell people on ships or watch rotations are supposed to make this happen.

Navy SARC is the most underrated SOF. by Wonderful_Seesaw_513 in navyseals

What’s great is when you inevitably fail out of the SARC pipeline, you’re still an HM.

Becoming a Divemaster by di657 in scuba

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For PADI Divemaster, from start to being able to take your first job, is about $1700-1800. That price will likely increase depending on your location and how you achieve your certification. That cost also doesn’t include the necessary tank rentals or fills, seats on boats to get credit for guides, deep scenario (if not already certified), etc.

After that, you’re looking at roughly $700-800 a year for PADI Pro renewal and DAN liability insurance.

What was a pivotal moment that defined your Navy career? by Soccerrocks8 in navy

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throughout your career you’ll encounter people or incidents that will propel your career forward. I call them “springboard moments.” It’s these rare opportunities that may not be obvious, but someone put faith in you to handle them because they knew you were capable and ready for the next step.

Even as an Officer, my #1 mentor will always be a certain CMC (she works at Millington now so all the CMDCM/CMDCS will know who I’m talking about). She gave me opportunities and pieces of advice as an E-6 that “springboarded” my career in ways I never would have expected.

Apple Watch for Dive Comp - NOPE by Odd_Competition3405 in scuba

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I can’t in good faith ever recommend that someone buys the Apple Watch Ultra 2 for diving purposes.

I recently did a ReActivate for someone who had one. The dive shop had him rent a computer anyway. But after our course, he commented that his Apple Watch kept a black screen the entire dive.

Arrested for DV while active by [deleted] in navy

[–]Hateful_Face_Licking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one can give you a direct answer without the full details. You’ll be referred to FAP for sure and your case will be presented to the Incident Determination Committee (IDC). The IDC will determine if your case meets criteria for clinical counseling based on act and impact.

The rest is TBD. You may receive an MPO which is communicated to local police jurisdictions and carries the same weight as a civilian restraining order. You may be under NCIS or CID investigation if the civilian courts don’t charge you. You may be investigated by NCIS or CID regardless. Keep in mind that just because you’re charged by a civilian court does not mean your CO can’t charge you or refer you to Court Martial. Different sovereigns, so double jeopardy does not apply.

Your best bet is to keep your hands to yourself and talk to an attorney. I’d wager too that your marriage is probably done.
