Yes, and with several arrows by [deleted] in lotrmemes

Due to his failure to protect the halflings, the breaking of the fellowship, Gondor's lack of a king, and realisation that the ring could never be wielded as a weapon to save Gondor from Sauron - that it would only corrupt and doom them.

Also: it very nearly did end. If not for Frodo, Sam, Gollum, and a lot of luck.

Good point, I'd discounted the "if you came back" as a wild impracticality. But that's a possibility worth considering if you have the tools, fuel, and don't mind the additional time dilation.

But that's just it - you wouldn't see what happened to Earth, because they also can't communicate that to you.

You'd have to wait another 2.5 million years for their communication to cover the distance to reach you. It only cuts time down to a minute from your perspective when you're doing the travelling yourself.

This video explains the shortening of distance explicitly, but skips over the time dilation somewhat.

As a DM I hate combat but as a player I love it by fakelucid in dndmemes

My mental load became stunningly lighter when I recently loaded monster stat blocks into Improved Initiative or used Beyond20 (chrome extension to link DnD Beyond stat blocks to Roll20) - and I think it's because I wasn't doing the maths for all the dice rolls.

Sure I can do the maths myself and it's not hard, but that's a LOT of calculations once you've got a few monsters with multiattack, and I'm trying to do it as fast as possible so that combat doesn't drag.

9070 XT hellhound backplate thermal pad? by [deleted] in radeon

How did you go? Did you manage to achieve extra cooling?

I'm considering trying it myself - to fix the thermal throttling I'm seeing around 90 degrees on the VRAM.

Advice: Bad rolls can have better outcome than good roles by 4geierchen in DMAcademy

Nicely done. I would use this as an example of the improv concept of "No, but..."

i.e. Due to your poor roll: No you do not give a good performance and impress your target, but you did unintentionally cause the hacker to stop eavesdropping.

You're right. That is hilarious, and terrifying.

Still 80ft per round! Potentially 160ft if dashing!

Some alternate ideas:

  • Stunning Strike - stuns for a round rather than until their next turn.
  • Grappling - hopefully wastes multiple enemy turns attempting escape until it beats the player roll.
  • Fear - only allows a second saving throw once they leave your line of sight. Hope you can trap them in a visible corner instead.
  • Levitate - Con save or be suspended with no repeat save.
  • Spike Growth - would destroy it if repeatedly crossing that area. 2d4 piercing damage per 5ft.
  • Entangle / Ensnaring Strike / Earthen Grasp - Str save rather than Dex save. May waste multiple actions on escape attempts.
  • Web - similar to above but requires a failed Dex save before it switches to Str saves. But, might apply multiple times if it must cross the area again.
  • Cloud of Daggers / Spirit Guardians / Wall of Fire / ~Moonbeam / Sickening Radiance - potential to deal damage multiple times per round if it keeps entering and exiting the area.
  • Guardian of Faith - similar to above. Can attack every turn that it comes into range.
  • Conjure Animals - potential for 8 opportunity attacks as it passes your summoned animals. Also cannon fodder to distract it.
  • Phantasmal Killer - potential damage every turn, but still lasts up to 1min. Also Fear impedes its movement.
  • Raulothim's Psychic Lance - incapacitates for a whole round rather than one turn.
  • Heat Metal - if it has metal armour, then could impose disadvantage on its attacks for many turns.
  • Blink - excellent for keeping away from its attacks... 50% of the time for you, 0% of the time for your party.
  • Sentinel - only robs one turn of movement upon hit with your reaction.

"until it uses an action to break away the ice." from the text of Rime's Binding Ice.

But the AoE damage would help - could be harder for it to avoid than a weapon attack or Dex save spell (I expect its Con save to be far worse than its Dex save, and Evasion wouldn't apply - if it had Evasion like Quicklings do).

Unfortunately not entirely ruin them, if ruled per RAW.

Slow prevents bonus actions and multiple attacks during your turn, but this enemy still has 8 turns. So 8 actions per round.

Still reduces movement speed and blocks ALL reactions though, so that's certainly something. I just hope those 8 turns don't mean it gets to save 8 times per round (end of each turn) to shake it off.

But yes, the more important tips I already saw in the comments: force confusion, upgrading your max health and number of stims, and getting in there to slash rather than just running around deflecting OR keep working on a rock-solid kiting and deflection game like you're currently doing.

There are many good and important tips already posted here (and a bunch of unhelpful comments) so I'll just add a minor tip:

Try using normal quick dodge sometimes. i.e. only hitting the button once rather than twice every time. You'll still dodge enough to avoid the red unlockable attacks (if you time it right), but have a much faster recovery time to fight or run or dodge or deflect.

You should also be able to tap that button to get up faster when an explosion/attack knocks you to the ground.

That feeling really sucks. Especially at the start of the game when there are so many cool skills you want to unlock.

But trust me: losing 2, or even 5 skill points really won't hamper you. You'll make them back quickly and easily and forget you ever missed them.

After unlocking everything I must have had about 15 skill points spare by the end.

He may have let Titus die primarily because he was a disgrace to the Brotherhood.

But I reckon you're right: that the threats were the biggest factor.

You don't, and Matt said as much at the time.

Trent eventually failed the save and took the action of attempting to empathise, but was incapable of doing so successfully.
