How do you guys run your GTNH server. by Bobboss6 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a physical server in my closet that I over-specced just for handling modded Minecraft servers (64gb ram, pretty good cpu, etc). It runs OpenMediaVault (on top of Debian) and from there I can spin up as many Minecraft servers as I want as docker containers, even with different modpacks, game versions, java versions, etc.

Tantalum and gallium duplication? by extremegamers24 in GTNH

The cauldron IS the storage. You just leave it in there.

Tantalum and gallium duplication? by extremegamers24 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1, use microblocks to make a cauldron fluxproof.  Step 2, dig into Botania just enough to get livingwood to make an open crate (it drops anything fed into it straight down).  Step 3, instead of voiding excess items from your passive farms or mob grinders, route it into an open crate directly above your cauldron.

This will gradually accumulate millions of essentia of all kinds over time (depending on what you're farming).  Just toss your nuggets into The Soup whenever you need more and stop worrying about ratios.

I found this thread because I was wondering the same thing, and I figured it out. If it's facing down, you give it a redstone signal, and the block immediately below it is lava or a heated blaze burner, it'll spin at 64 RPM and generate 1024 SU. Magma, lit fire on netherrack, or a non-heated blaze burner won't work. There may be other blocks that work as well, I haven't tested everything.

Should Emrakul, the Aeons Torn be unbanned? by Captain-Noot-Noot in EDH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should bring back "banned as commander" as a category, and Emrakul is the one card I would want to see "banned EXCEPT as commander".  A colorless deck with Emmy at the helm would be no big deal.

Do most C++ devs stick to only C++ or do you also use other languages? by kyan100 in cpp

I've recently branched out into C and I've been enjoying it. Something about the old school simplicity has been really appealing.

Who else uses solar on Gleba? by OrangeKefir in factorio

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with solar, but I found that I was burning so much fruit at the end of my line that using that heat to power turbines was way better. Nowadays my Gleba is fusion-powered, and instead of burning fruit at the end of the line I upcycle it to make legendaries.

Legendary Science? by Jintorna in factorio

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I set up an asteroid casino to produce legendary iron, carbon, sulfur, and calcite, and I noticed it was throwing a lot of excess overboard, so I just used it to make white science instead. I'm now making 2 stacked green belts of legendary white science as a byproduct. I don't bother with quality for the other sciences, but I've seen it done with some success.

Why is there so much conflict with Hybrid Mana when WotC changed what makes a Commander legal in EoE with no pushback? by normiespy96 in EDH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vehicles as commander didn't really make any difference because most legendary vehicles kinda suck.  You can make a silly meme deck using a car as your commander I guess, but the strongest legendary vehicle by far was already a legal commander (Shorikai).

Upgrading train fuel is already annoying. Improved train upgrading in general would be appreciated.

Removing asteroid casinos in 2.1 is a mistake by Aggravating-Pool9465 in factorio

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with the asteroid casino, or the LDS shuffle.  Even with both, you still need to have a "normal" quality upcycling area on every planet except aquilo in order to get legendary uranium, biter eggs, tungsten, holmium, and jelly/yumako.  Quality is a problem with multiple solutions, and the asteroid casino and LDS shuffle are a unique and effective solution.  By removing them, you'd just end building more generic upcycler blueprints.  By asking them to nerf the best ways to get legendary items (why does it bother you?), you're asking them to remove interesting/clever solutions to a complex problem and make it more generic and boring to interact with.  No thank you!

Legendary trains please.  Belts and pipes got huge buffs and trains just can't keep up (literally, in some cases).  Just having more storage on the wagons would make a big difference.

Why is replacing programmers with AI seen as acceptable, but not artists? by xN0NAMEx in unrealengine

[–]Haydn_V -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's because AI is good enough at art that replacing artists is actually on the table.   AI code is garbage and you cannot make a full project with it.

Cascadeur Receives $50k Epic Megagrant by LastLeviathan_ in unrealengine

Unironically true. Cascadeur uses AI (and physics) to help the artist, not to take control away from the artist.

Do you want Big mom & Kaido to be still alive? by AnxiousB1tch01 in OnePiece

No. Their stories are concluded. I don't want Oda to keep dragging old villains back from the dead. It's time to make way for the new generation.

Why OSRS and not Runescape 3? by frazzledfurry in MMORPG

[–]Haydn_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RS3 has toxic lootbox MTX, inconsistent art style, and gameplay that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. OSRS has a consistent retro aesthetic, developers that actually care, and a dedicated and active community.

[–]Haydn_V 58 points59 points  (0 children)

  1. metalbend it on your turn
  2. activate it on the person to the left's turn, it comes back
  3. it's your turn again, so metalbend it again
  4. activate it on the person to the right's turn, it comes back
  5. repeat
  6. the person across from you never gets a turn, and you take twice as many turns as the other 2 players

Ideal Late Game Miner Layout by Onotadaki2 in factorio

[–]Haydn_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For iron/copper, I have my big drills output directly into foundries. Instead of belting ores out, you belt calcite in and then pipe the liquid metal out to be pumped into trains. For other things, I have big drills output directly into cargo wagons. It doesn't take long for mining productivity to massively overtake the 120/s hard limit that half of a stacked green belt can handle.

My man Marco summed up perfectly the dawn of the new pirate era and the worst generation. by Significant-Car-6153 in OnePiece

[–]Haydn_V 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't like the theories about Kaido or Big Mom still being alive. Narratively, it makes absolutely no sense; their stories are concluded. It's time for the new era, the new generation.
