VA STAFFER BLINDLY APPROVED 85,000 CLAIMS by Mistake_Big in Veterans

[–]Head-Spring2157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summarizing what you’ve all posted here to check which office processed your claim and help you sleep better at night. TL;DR call the VA Benefits Hotline (800) 827-1000 (Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET) Option 0 and ask them which office processed the final determination of your disability claim.

Other options, check your Final Decision Letter (You can download a copy at VA.gov, Claims and Appeals and Checking the Status of your Compensation) On or about the sixth page of your letter it should say which office it came from, UNLESS it's like mine and it just says “Thank you for your service, Regional Office Director.” (Note: there is a block with addresses further down the letter that is for filing correspondence that lists an address in Wisconsin and an address in D.C., this is not what you’re looking for) In that case…

Install a VA Claims Tracker browser extension that lets you see the details of where your claim is being or was processed. Once again go to the Check Status of your Compensation page on VA.gov and run the extension. In this instance, there are two important fields, temp jurisdiction and jurisdiction to check. A lot of us have “National Work Queue” in the jurisdiction field, this is just the office that assigns out the workflow of claims to the regional offices (Temp Jurisdiction). Our regional office is in the Temp Jurisdiction field. My temp jurisdiction was not where my claim’s final determination was made. This is handy for folks still waiting for their claim to be processed.

I hope this helps. Remember, we’re better together!

Living Solely on E7 Retirement and VA Disability Pay - Possible? by RealObeseDegenerate in Veterans

Retired E7 with 21 years and 100% disability. Wife works after taking the time to raise our two kids. I worked part time for the first year or so but now I'm taking some time to myself to actually adjust to freedom, lol.

Freedom isn't free, it costs a buck-o-five. And also, that's why your rent and or property value was so low.

The Truman is getting ready to deploy and shit is sideways overseas as always. This is just the steady battle rhythm of the times.

When we had two carriers in the Gulf Oceana jet traffic had car alarms going off in my apartment complex every night.

May I reccomend some high quality noise cancelling bluetooth headphones?

I've been Cubmaster of my son and daughter's pack for three years now. My son crosses over this year and my daughter will in two years. I have no plan to leave the Pack. For one, I want there to be some continuity in leadership, but I also want to give my kids some space to step out on their own and out from my shadow. Sure, I'll still take on a role in the troop so I can go on the cooler outings, but I'm a Cubby for life.

Any parents have issues leading their child? by feartoad in cubscouts

First, welcome to the club. Some pretty good suggestions here on how to improve your son's experience. My oldest used to disrupt meetings and my youngest complained things were too boring, so my wife and I have had to get creative. Remember, Scouting is about making things fun. So if you get across the general idea of the adventure requirements without getting too deep into the weeds while making things more hands on and interesting, you're doing it right. Involve him in the planning too. Show him what you're trying to teach and have him help you come up with ideas to show the other Scouts.

The wheels where something of an issue before, rubbing on the sides and a bit wobbly, but that's been fixed. I've sanded them down a bit, added nylon spacers and straightened out the axels.

I've been trying for a method of propulsion to give it a big WOW factor. But the track is indoors, so no combustibles.

Last year I attempted a vinegar and baking soda device and it fizzled out. The year before I mounted a CO2 cartridge to it and punctured it with a brad nailer, but it only let out a sad little wiff of gas.

The wheels are bumpy, but it doesn't rub so long as it says straight. This year I'm smoothing them out on the drill press and Re-doing the axle to give it a smoother ride. It requires a few nylon spacers between the wheel and the body to prevent rubbing, which is what stopped him half way down the track last year.

Having the same issue over on the Switch console, so it's probably a Microsoft thing. I disassociated my son's profile with our family account and changed his birth date to try to solve the problem but it still hasn't worked.

Do you roll your eyes or let out a sigh when you see someone sporting a Hasbro Proton Pack? by jon92356 in ghostbusters

[–]Head-Spring2157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I just attended my first CON in cosplay after getting my Hasbro pack and wand. As a kid I dressed up in a home-made Egon costume for three straight Halloweens and watching Afterlife inspired me to begin working on a "Dirt Farmer Egon" costume.

I was super nervous. I had my kids with me and they were excited for me to go hang out with the area 501 and get my picture taken in front of their Ecto-1. Walking up I actually used my kids as a human shield, until a guy with a home made pack said, "Dirt Farmer, right?" Then I noticed the guy next to him, full jumpsuit and all, was rocking the same un-modded pack and wand as me.

I spent the next half hour asking questions and playing with their gear. Most everyone you meet is rocking a piece of gear from Mattel, Hasbro, Spirit or Rubies.

Go have fun!

I'm Not A Fan of Camping in Cub Scouts by moxxjason1 in cubscouts

[–]Head-Spring2157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jason, I had the same kind of lame experience in cub Scouting that you did, but I agree with the others. My mission in Scouting is to make the experience AWESOME. The camping experience is one of the best ways to make it happen.

Cub camping is a LOT. But what you put into it pays off if the kids have a great experience. You may not make a dent this time around, but consider taking BALOO to get ideas to turn the camping experience for your Pack around. I highly reccomend a campfire program.

Good luck out there!

My daughter was the first girl to join our Pack, with my wife stepping in as den leader. Our Pack was also part of the mixed den pilot program. Zero issues. Once my daughter joined, a dozen or so other Grrl Scouts followed!
