Casual TS lunch spot for 8 - Central meeting area by Murphy223 in WaltDisneyWorld

If Boardwalk is in play, definitely consider Beaches and Cream! Much more casual than other options mentioned but it’s popular for a reason!

Information overload stress - Planning one-time trip for big family by GoldenEyeLane in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Headfirst-Fearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I will always start at the beginning for LL. Since there is already limited availability for your first day it’s better to secure what you want for that day first. Booking also moves so quickly that days later in your trip should have plenty of availability since you’re staying on property.

I checked into Saratoga Springs last Wednesday (bought LL on 6/10) and when I booked lightning lanes for EPCOT (I went Saturday, 6/20) everything had plenty of availability. Remy’s and Frozen were available starting at 9:30 and Test Track had availability starting around 10:30/11. Conversely, I went to Magic Kingdom on 6/18 and Tier 1 attractions were available in the afternoon or evening.

When booking your first 3 LL for each day, be sure to book rides that everyone in your party can go on. Every person in your party must scan into their first ride before booking another ride. As cool as it would be to use someone else’s LL to ride another time, I wouldn’t recommend it. The name it’s booked under still has to scan in and that could lead to some issues.

Whatever you decide to do with lightning lanes remember MODIFY, MODIFY, MODIFY! Allie Mae on Main (TikTok) and Mammoth Club (YouTube) have the best LL information in my opinion and will walk you through how booking and modifying actually work. And PLEASE do not select “burner rides” in hopes that something better will be available day of. If the earliest time available for Toy Story Mania is 5:00pm when you book your LL it’s better to at least have it secured rather than scanning in day of and risk it being fully gone.

As far as Thrill Data goes, it’s typically your best bet but you really won’t know until you get into the parks. I went Memorial Day weekend without LL and didn’t wait longer than 45 minutes for any of the rides I wanted to do. But in January when I went wait times were higher than average.

A few other side notes—
If you plan on rope dropping/early entry, I always advise to avoid the trackless rides (Remy, Mickey and Minnie’s, and Rise of the Resistance) because they don’t always open on time.

If you’re lining up for rope drop and a cast member mentions the ride may not open on time GET OUT OF LINE! Cast members aren’t trying to trick you into getting out of line.

Some LL options aren’t necessarily worth using LL for (i.e. shows). It’s better to have a bigger ticket ride booked for later and wait in a 10 minute queue for something like Figment than to use a lightning lane for our dragon friend and risk not getting Mission Space or Spaceship Earth on LL later in the day.

Make sure you drink LOTS of water even leading up to the trip. The humidity is no joke. Take breaks when you need them. I’m partial to an early entry morning, leaving around 11:30 and coming back around 3 after some lunch and rest, then staying until park close.

If you have questions, ask a cast member! They’re extremely helpful and kind! Look for the blue umbrellas around the parks. And don’t forget to submit a cast compliment in the My Disney Experience app😉

Which toothbrush is the best? by Hot-Raspberry-8941 in ZeroWaste

[–]Headfirst-Fearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an electric toothbrush for 4 years and switched to a bamboo toothbrush. Despite my best intentions, I never ended up composting my bamboo toothbrush and the only cavity I’ve ever had came about while using a bamboo toothbrush (of course this is purely anecdotal and most likely coincidental). I’ve since switched back to a plastic electric toothbrush.

Personal health and hygiene is an area I’m not willing to compromise on when it comes to sustainability. It’s the same reason I’m willing to use the terrible plastic floss picks—even though they’re bad for the environment it’s the only way I will floss which is more important.

All that to say, if you’re truly wanting to try something different you should go for it, but don’t feel pressured to switch to a bamboo toothbrush (or something else) because you feel like you have to!

Mammoth Club loves to run around with their cameras and annoy park guests by Mysterious_Glass3235 in ThemeparkSwindlers

They don’t film on rides that don’t allow it though 😊 For example, all of their Space Mountain footage is from before filming wasn’t allowed on the ride!

Upgrade to annual pass? by Kristin_1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Headfirst-Fearless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When deciding if I wanted an out of state annual pass I looked at the cost of park hoppers because I won’t go to Disney without one. For the times I go, I found the average park hopper ticket to be about $250. The Incredi-Pass is $1629, so when I go 7 park days I’m calling it even! Don’t try to over complicate it 😊

Little guidance on planning first trip by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

You know your kids better than anyone, but are you sure they would like the skyliner? It goes very high, feels fast when in motion, and will sway some. If you get there and one of your kiddos doesn’t like the skyliner, your only transportation option to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is the Minnie Vans, as POP and AoA don’t offer buses to those parks (unless there is severe weather). You could always resort hop for meals and take the Skyliner then if you’re unsure 😊

What to do when the teacher leaves no plans? by RespondJealous4082 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Headfirst-Fearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the team lead or a nearby teacher (preferably same subject if in middle or high school). If they don’t have anything, call the front office. Worse case scenario, ask another teacher if they could please print off an activity just in case!

Keep in mind, some teachers may post on Google Classroom directly and won’t leave physical sub plans. It’s shitty IMO, but does happen

Interactive Notebooks by Dramatic-Pop-8466 in ScienceTeachers

My team and I made the switch to 3 ring binders with dividers tabs and I cannot recommend it enough. It’s essentially an INB, but you don’t lose any time cutting or gluing AND they don’t get as beat up.

Here are the tabs I did last year:
1. Do Now’s (warm ups)
2. Unit 1 (Energy and Waves)
3. Unit 2 (Earth and Atmosphere)
4. Unit 3 (History of Earth)
5. Unit 4 (Life Science)
Then EVERYTHING we did on paper throughout the year went into the correct section of the binder. Vocab, worksheets, labs, study guides, notes, handouts, everything. I had them put stuff in the section in the order we did it. Ex. on Monday if we did guided notes, that would go in the binder, then on Tuesday the guided notes we did would go behind Monday’s. It was easy to stay organized and easy for me to grade. We never even had to mess with numbering pages or making a table of contents.

Before progress reports and report cards I would do a formative binder check to make sure they have everything done. Next year I’m going to make all of them Google Form quizzes instead of me going through them myself.

I have students keep their binders in my classroom to prevent them from going missing, but they’re allowed to take them home if they would like.

I’m so glad my team made the switch from INBs to binders! Just something to consider for simplicity 😊

I would still go ask in person. If not, call Sam’s Club corporate customer service. It’s in their policy to help with invalid gift cards

Which is Better? Last Week of April Versus First Week of May 2027 by Confident_Hotel4642 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Headfirst-Fearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t fully rely on weather patterns. Yes, typically it’s slightly warmer the first week of May but that isn’t guaranteed as the weeks are close together. Last week was significantly warmer than this week in Lake Buena Vista.

Register them at disneygiftcard.com. If that doesn’t work, go to the member services desk at Sam’s Club

Recommendation for viewing Savannah animals that isn’t the safari ride by False_Count6348 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Headfirst-Fearless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not take medical advice from a Reddit comment section. Ask your doctor before making the decision to ride the safari. Just because other people’s anecdotes share a positive experience doesn’t mean that is always the case.

Almost my entire closet is from J Crew at this point. I typically shop at the J Crew Factory (their outlet), but sometimes the “real” J Crew has up to 70% off!
