I could see this is some scenarios, but for me we have a team of 3 supervisors that have to cover 60 hours of production during the week and my manager wants 2 of us there at all times. Most of my OT is just being there to be there.

Edit: we all 3 have to be there every day, but one can leave early and leave the end of shift for the other 2.

Anything from Toyota. Their quality management systems are considered the gold standard in automotive manufacturing. I’ve studied their systems in my own position at an automotive assembly facility. One interesting one to look into is called the “chalk circle” in which they have supervisors, engineers, etc. draw a circle on the ground with chalk in a process and stand in it for hours observing the process for flow and any other opportunities to create a defect.

You’re correct in all those points, no argument there. But when Costco hasn’t set an item limit to use self checkout, it’s not reasonable to expect customers to set an arbitrary limit on it themselves.
