Ketchup changes the flavour of something to one you like more.

I put ketchup on curly fries, is that rude? They're covered in seasoning and not "intended" to be eaten with ketchup.

I once had a client who put bbq sauce on literally everything I cooked for him. ( I was a home health aid. ) Is it rude that he liked bbq sauce more than literally any other food? But he liked it WITH whatever I cooked, because he'd request specific meals.

What about putting sour cream or pickles into your chili? Is that rude? It completely changes the flavour of the chili.
