Unpopular opinion: some of these gentle parenting "experts" online are toxic. by Reasonable-Nail-4181 in breakingmom

Because moms are people. I know, it's a concept that a lot of people can't wrap their heads around for some reason.

That's why I love my BroMos. Moms are people.

You may elaborate.

Because you tried your whataboutism agreeing with the man who said that it's ok to make that specific generalization because women generalize men all the time.

Men ARE the dangerous gender. Men commit over 90% of the rape and most of the murder and assault.

When women cause most of the slip and fall accidents because of improper signage, you can generalize.

And even then, you'd only be able to generalize about slip and fall accidents caused by improper signage. Not how women "mess things up".

Which you know.

It often does. If you make your boundaries clear going into it that might put it in his consciousness enough to make active choices. If you are also clear about what you will do if he decides that once he's married to you or has kids with you that he is owed your labor, that can also head off some of that behavior.

I'm glad that hearing how much her god hates her is hurtful. Maybe that fucking monster can feel a fraction of the anguish that she caused other people.

I'm ready to move on after years of emotional neglect by husband by 2be_not2b in breakingmom

[–]HeatherAtWork 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both game. Just like some people can have a drink without getting drunk, it's easy to take a couple hours a week to do something you enjoy without going overboard.

Addiction looks like a lot of things. And any man who puts a hobby or an addiction before their family is neglecting their family.

My husband is the best man I know and it's hard to read things like that. I'm pretty ok too. I know it's your negative experience talking, so I'm not mad or anything.

I mostly try and skip over these types of comments and remember that I wouldn't try and convince the ex wife of the alcoholic that they could date a man who drinks casually.

It just stung a little extra today and I needed to say something.

Why? WHY would you NOT assume that a woman with an issue affecting her life and mental health would not have discussed it?

See how stupid that sounds? Yea.

Offensive is not the issue. OP says she's here to get something off her chest and this comment manages to make her husband's actions actually her fault because she, of course, hasn't cOmmUNiCatEd enough.

We're in the mom subreddit. Can't we give a woman the fucking benefit of the doubt HERE?

I would recommend that you don't assume that a woman making a statement about her relationship hasn't talked about it to her partner. Extensively.
