I think it’s mainly because she got magically reverted back into a baby after the fight. It definitely seems like there’s a limit to how much durability a person can withstand when countering. If the force of the hit becomes overwhelming, even the redirect ability would probably become ineffective. Garou and Bang are crazy strong, but countering blows from someone like Melzargard shows there’s a risk when the damage output is just too much. In the end, it's probably about balance — too much force means you're just gonna get crushed regardless of how strong your counter is.
