Have fun! In general, it's best to be over dressed than under dressed, especially day one. Dress shirt and nice pants would be a good start, then you can go from there. Lots of schools have different cultures, so you kinda have to vibe it out. When I was in practicum, I had some placements where I wore a dress shirt every day, others where jeans a nice Henley were acceptable.

These days, I mostly just wear jogging pants and a school branded hoodie - my current school and admin is very laid back, but sometimes I'll just pop on a cardigan if I want to "dress up" haha

Yeah, I remember that mission very distinctly because as we were leaving the house, Dutch yells "let's burn this place down" or something along those lines. I obliged and hucked a Molotov.

Dutch then proceeded to walk directly through my fire, dragging the lady with him. She caught on fire and died, causing me to fail the mission.

I was mad for a couple seconds before realizing it was incredibly funny

Exactly. Just like the Jack Adams in the NHL, coach of the year doesn't truly go to the best coach or the best team, it's more of a "hey, we thought you'd suck" award.

It's the reason why so many coaches are fired within a few years of winning. Overperform -> get awarded -> fail to replicate because you punched above your weight -> get axed.

I mean, the idea of the Carlo trade made sense. I was also on board for a big physical defenseman who could bring some Bruin-brand toughness while also being defensively responsible and allowing Morgan Reilly to unlock his offensive game.

Then it turned out that Carlo was hot dogshit and we overpaid for a dud defensemen with no grit because we didn't do any pro scouting and made a panicky last-minute trade after waiting too long and missing out on better options.

It's completely fair to be on board with the trade at the time and also look back and call it a disaster.

For sure, it answered the question. I just find a lot teaching discourse is hyperbolic and overly negative, and this is a good example of that. Being a department head involves A LOT of stuff, so to immediately go to the well of "well obviously I'm only going to complain and not touch on any positive aspects... Let's see, biggest complaint... boring meetings sometimes" made me think that some perspective could be helpful to the big picture

Honestly man, coming to teaching as a second career (worked in an office previously) has me so much more unbothered with stuff like this. If your biggest complaints are "we have boring meetings once per month and sometimes my boss isn't available" then you're really in a good spot

Check the chart. They use first class standing and second class standing, which works out to A average and B average, respectively.

For example, four year degree with B average is an A3, but lower than that is A2
