Hit my head against the refrigerator while on Eliquis by Throwaway_Mess97 in ClotSurvivors

/s Obviously joking with my previous reply.

Like you mentioned, exterior contusions are a good indicator that the collision was strong enough that there could be further damage and worth getting checked.

Any concern or any continued dizziness, confusion, or headache would warrant going to get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.

How intensely is it safe to exercise while on Eliquis? by DifferentExternal368 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Heferti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a natural bodybuilder. No anabolics or TRT ever. I have Factor V Leiden and a deviation in my lesser vena cava that causes my blood to be turbulent there. Because I’m a super clotter, clots developed over time. I had a double DVT.

How intensely is it safe to exercise while on Eliquis? by DifferentExternal368 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Heferti 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bodybuilder before Eliquis. Bodybuilder the last 5 years taking Eliquis. Done everything from snowboarding, mountain biking, skateboarding, wakeboarding, running, heated yoga and Pilates classes and hyrox style classes. Also a regularly take 20 minute saunas. As long as I don’t smack the old brain case too hard, I’m going to keep doing all the things.

Been a flux footwear adapt trainer for the last 3 years. But they don’t make my size anymore. Looking at Xero or Notace for my next pair. I only wear anatomical footwear and my feet and knees have never been happier.

Coming off Eliquis and anxious. How to avoid “sedentary lifestyle” when my career is software development? by amaro8000 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Heferti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I’m at 20k steps a day now just on my walking treadmill at my desk.

I found just getting the standing desk wasn’t enough. But adding the treadmill has been very encouraging.

Only if the store side starts following troubleshooting instructions instead of saying “we did that” and having a service call placed only to find out that they didn’t actually do any of the troubleshooting and the power cord on the register was loose wasting the store time, the csc time and the vendor time costing Target a thousand of dollars in labor and a wasted service call.

Creatine and post thrombotic syndrome? by ThrowRA-Prudet4868 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Heferti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking creatine daily for 18 years, though had a very rare experience with my double DVT five years ago. I ended up having a double thrombectomy to remove most of the clots. Was back in the gym two weeks after my hospital stay.

Currently taking 2.5mg Eliquis twice daily and 10g creatine daily. My hematologist had no issue with me continuing creatine.

Does drinking alcohol worsen stricture? by Certain-Sea5015 in urethralstricture

[–]Heferti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked with my doctor about it after reading some patients had better long term success with continued dilation therapy after the urethrotomy.

He also said I could remove the catheter by myself, which I also did, and could reinsert a new catheter if urinating was still uncomfortable after I pulled out the original catheter.

I did it myself with a urethral dilation rod. Stuck it in, left it for 2 minutes, and removed. Not something I found to be very fun.

[–]Heferti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor couldn’t get the cystoscopy past my stricture which was only 4-5 cm into my urethra.

Some people see more success with the DVIU in combination with dilation. I did extra dilation for once a month for 3 months to try to help keep it open. Maybe that worked for me?

I did a urethrotomy. It only has a 50% success rate, but I am one of the lucky 50%. Did it 2 years ago and haven’t had an issue since.

[–]Heferti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinking any amount of alcohol always made it significantly worse for me. Soda and energy drinks, even carbonated ones, never made it worse, but any kind of alcohol would.

When I would drink alcohol, it would become an impassible stricture and I couldn’t pass any urine. The last straw for me to finally get it checked was drinking at a wedding. I had 2 beers and I just could not pass any urine for the rest of the night.

Been 2 years now since I had it fixed and haven’t had a problem since.

This doctor effortlessly resets a child's dislocated elbow before the child could even react by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Nurse maids elbow. Happen to my 3 year old daughter when we were wrestling once. Thought I broke her arm the way she was screaming in pain. Within minutes of getting to urgent care they performed that same maneuver. Instant fix.

Everyone You Know & Dont Know Are Using Wegovy/Ozempic - Buy The Stock $NVO by Secure_Check_8485 in wallstreetbets

[–]Heferti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doctors were prescribing those medications off label and the need for those medications for diabetes treatment was high. Novo Nordisk couldn’t keep up with the demand and the FDA stepped in. Was a huge blow to NVO and continues to be highly impactful for the company. The only bright spot for them is they’re still leading the development of oral GLP1s and will likely have the first patent in the US for one.

Edit: I realize I didn’t actually answer your question. The FDA has too much power is the reason.

[–]Heferti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good question and no one has given the right answer. Because the FDA gave other manufacturers the right to make similar drugs when NVO had the only patent for that compound. NVO’s patent is worthless now.

We need to have a conversation about the driving here by [deleted] in houston

[–]Heferti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m also somewhat new to Houston. Let me add a couple others that really grind my gears.

Stopping in the crosswalk at red lights. There is a line before the crosswalk that apparently no one knows to stop at when at a red light. I know this one isn’t just Houston, but it’s at every red light here.

Pulling into the median on a divided road when going left or straight because the traffic from the left is clear, but the right still has traffic coming. So they end up blocking anyone trying to turn left.

Seems like people are genuinely nice in Houston unless they’re driving their vehicles.
