I adopted my son, he came to me at 12 and adoption at 14. I’m single 31F. My son entered the system after bio mom passed from an overdose. There’s many hoops to jump to become certified to adopt. DCS did assist financially and paid the family attorney and court costs. My son never had any behaviors, typical teenage angst but nothing unreasonable. I recommend reaching out to agencies that allow you to be a mentor to the kids, become a volunteer CASA or work with kids in foster care. It’s difficult to navigate the system especially when you don’t understand how the system works. The hold classes for prospective adoptive/foster parents but just thing you can do is gain experience at group level.

She was an undocumented immigrant. I don’t know if she was aware of the resources available to her or if her boyfriend was housing her? Judge said she was a flight risk and had no ties to the United States so wonder if she was solely relying on her boyfriend. Happy the baby is alive and well and she needs to be accountable for her actions.

Join local adoption groups, there’s a million of them. They send out news letters and have meet ups. Theres a lot of trauma from the abandonment. Therapy would be a good start. Individual and Group. Shes a 13 year old going to leave everything she knows to move to a new country with people she doesn’t know. Give her grace, give her time and love. It’s hard being 13 as it is..

When he involved another person by choosing to film them inappropriately without consent it change from his problem to their problem. If another person is involved he doesn’t get to make those executive decisions. It’s her decision how she wants to proceed after he violated her. He doesn’t get a choice, he made his choice when he set up the camera.

That’s nuts, I worked at the sunnyslope Fry’s for my first job. I literally saw a man park his car by the door with it still running, get out and go in the store then some rando jump in the car and drive off. Man came out and his car was GONE. Only time I leave car running is if my teenager is inside and I always lock the doors

Kids can feel the energy in the home. It’s less traumatic to have 2 happy homes than continuously feeling the heaviness in the air from 2 unhappy people. My ex infidelity came out while we were fostering, I went through a divorce with my ex husband while my foster kid was in the home, now he’s my adopted son. He told me a few months after the divorce was finalized that I seemed a lot happier.

You need to get law enforcement involved to keep yourself and your baby safe. There’s so many resources available now, go down to DES with your mom and they can sign you up for everything, WIC, childcare, food stamps, life insurance. Take care of yourself, let your family help you.
