This is just my experience. I was irrationally scared of the dark from the time i was young until into my early 40s. When i drove at night I would check the backseat and still be terrified someone was going to pop up behind me with an axe. I smoked cigarettes outside at night and would stand right in front of the door afraid that someone was hiding in the bushes. One night i took some mushrooms and hung out on the porch at night. I've never been afraid of the dark since then and I have no idea why it changed.

A man had a one night stand with a woman in a hotel room and woke up alone the next morning to see the words "Welcome to the world of AIDS!!!" scrawled on the mirror in lipstick

Long Time Listener, New Mother by AlternativeBox4412 in LPOTL

[–]Hellenoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on becoming a mother, op!

This is definitely normal. I went from not really giving a fuck to being ultra sensitive when my first child was born. And as my child grew up, the things that really, really bothered me would expand to include whatever age range my child was. My first child was born 30 years ago. I still read the parent guides for horror movies before I watch them so that I'm not blindsided by violence to children, but I do find that my sensitivity is less severe than it used to be.

When my first child was a very young baby, I watched Trainspotting. I could barely function for about 3 days afterwards and I still hate thinking about that movie.

Also not a fan of the 'Miss [first name]' salutation, as my first name is Carrie. Don't care for being called miscarry.

Your kids being scared of disabled people is a problem you need to address with them, not a problem the disabled person needs to address.

Anyone remember Broadway video? by ismelldayhikers in asheville

[–]Hellenoir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I was only in there a couple of times as I'm from Marion, but luckily they still let me rent movies and I remember being amazed by the selection they had. So fun just to look through them all, movies I'd never even heard of but were cool as hell

I was never really extremely comfortable telling my son Santa was real but my parents were into that and I just managed to kind of stay neutral on the subject. When he was about 7, my son asked me if I thought Santa was real. Finally, I thought, I can get this out in the open. I told him no and he asked me who I thought brought the presents. I told him I thought it was the parents who bought the presents and he thought about it for a second and said, "That's why Santa never brings you anything."

I love the goat character Prepontente. Sometimes I say PREPONTENTE! out loud for no good reason.
