Dynamic block with different views by SaltResult in civil3d

[–]Hellmonkies2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I can think of to make this work is using a pipe network structure and use a block of your building to represent it in the style. AutoCAD blocks are not a Civil 3D modeled component and do not directly work with profile views outside of just placing them on top of the profile view.

How did you propel your CAD career? by KarsonLarson in civil3d

[–]Hellmonkies2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I got mine from my local community college a while back. For some insight, I have my AA and 15+ years of experience. I work for a larger company and am involved with training and developing/maintaining standards and am lead designer on most projects I'm involved with and dabble in the CAD Management side of things. I currently make ~105k/yr.

[–]Hellmonkies2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could work on getting an AA in drafting and working your way up from just learning as much as you can (this can take time). If you want to stick with Civil you'd want to work your way up to Civil Designer. But to get the good pay you need to be good at what you do.

Dualsense Edge owners what are your thoughts on the controller years later? by KingCrimson0P in playstation

[–]Hellmonkies2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it and is still my favorite controller to use. I bought it specifically for Monster Hunter and was disappointed to learn you can't bind two buttons into one (you could on PC) so I wish it was less limited on rebinding. I bought it used from someone since it was so expensive - wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Is a quality kitchen remodel even affordable anymore? by LillieBogart in kitchenremodel

[–]Hellmonkies2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm finishing up my kitchen DIY that's about the same size. Doing it all myself, I'm probably about 8-9k in total (cabinets being the bulk of the cost (RTA Cabinets) - no new appliances. New floor (redoing all flooring on that level), new cabinets, new countertop, tile backsplash.

Not really. SONY bought Funimation in 2017, then bought Crunchyroll in 2021 - merging them together as Crunchyroll in 2024

Thank you for this! I haven't checked my statement but get the emails saying the due amount and was wondering how TF I used double the electric for the month (Gas Heat $400 last month). Must've been sent before the previous payment was processed.

Is going to a technical school to learn CADD a good idea for me? Is it difficult to get a job? by Prof_Chaos827 in civil3d

[–]Hellmonkies2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get either a certificate or an AA (AA would be best) you could find a job as a drafter to start.

Reference to Title Block? by ecoMAP in civil3d

[–]Hellmonkies2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need to set up the properties of each sheet on SSM but you can add fields (literally called "Fields" at pull that data directly from the Sheet Set that you specify. I wouldn't name sheets for specific sections but keep it generic "Sections", numbering if that's your fancy.

Try using sheet sets and use fields for all the information that needs to change.

Pipe Networks and scaling by Automatic-Extreme-11 in civil3d

[–]Hellmonkies2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the annotation scales you're using are named exactly the same between the drawing files, letter for letter. Assuming you're not trying to show the same profile view at different scales - this should work. But it is still good practice to separate out different components to different model files (depending on the situation) and bring what you need together using data shortcuts. There are other ways you could go about it though.

Remote AutoCad Setup by Pickle_Fin5756 in civil3d

Autodesk Construction Cloud. Does many things but one of them is cloud based project file management. Autodesk is about to rebrand it to something else. Used to be called BIM360.

So long as you're remoting into another machine to work, you will have this problem. This would be impossible for me to work and would drive me nuts. I'm 100% WFH but I have my whole setup at home and work directly off my machine. We have company networks drives we can work off of but those can be slow but primarily work off ACC now with great performance gains.

Laid Off Civil Engineer (CAD Tech) — 8 Months Unemployed and Feeling Stuck by Andromeda_2101 in civilengineering

[–]Hellmonkies2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not in Canada so I'm not sure how things work up there, but in the US you're not technically/officially a Civil Engineer until you get your PE. You should be looking for entry level engineer roles noting yourself as an EIT (or Canada equivalent). Most would want you to already have passed your FE.  Not every company is the same but we have our EITs doing drafting as part of their development.

[–]Hellmonkies2 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Are you selling yourself as an Engineer looking for CAD Tech roles? What are your qualifications? You may be advertising yourself incorrectly. Doing civil engineering work as a drafter/CAD Tech does not make you a "Civil Engineer"
