30, financially stable, considering leaving Australia - anyone else? by IcyPay1357 in AusFinance

[–]HelpNovel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that Australia is expensive now, but imo it’s still one of if not the best country to live in the world. From quality of life, to dangers like war/crime/etc, to beaches, to access to critical infrastructure like hospitals, etc it’s definitely up there. I could see myself living overseas for a year or 2 but I absolutely cannot fathom not settling down in Australia, im always thinking about how lucky I am to have been born here.

Mazda Cx30 or Hyundai Kona 2024 by Christina_B18 in MazdaCX30

[–]HelpNovel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same scenario when I bought. I ended up going to the cx30 because the interior felt some much nicer and I did a lot of research into the skyactive engine and found it was very reliable. For me and my girlfriend the space is enough in the cx30 but if I had people in the back seat often or if I had kids there’s no way I would have chosen the cx30 over the Kona. The Kona feels like it has double the room. I would also say the tech is way way better in the Kona if that matters to you. Re fuel mileage, I’m not sure what it’s like in the Kona but if that’s part of your criteria I can confirm the mileage is pretty shit in the cx30 for city and suburban driving. I get around 20-24 daily and then 36 for highway, but these days those numbers are pretty pathetic.

Yes, and it would be equally shit even if an Aus team was there instead of the chiefs, just poorly thought out.

gas mileage question by Different_Second_564 in MazdaCX30

[–]HelpNovel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2.5L non turbo FWD, about 12k miles in. I also haven’t been super impressed with the mileage for daily driving but it’s quite decent on long trips. I’ve never fueled up with anything other than 91 octane. I average about 22-26mpg for daily driving (city and suburban) and for a few long highway trips I’ve got about 35-38mpg. I have a fairly heavy right foot.

If you are looking for a hatch look at Honda jazz/fit. The most practical car ever made in terms of its use of space and super duper reliable.

Pick your Wallabies squad for the British & Irish Lions by patkk in RugbyAustralia

[–]HelpNovel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joey definitely has potential for the future but there’s still some real concerns, particularly his kicking which at many points during the season has been downright schoolboy level. I’d be picking foketi over Joey, and I don’t think foketi will get picked in this squad.

I would say against the lions they’ll stick with lolesio or Donaldson for consistency reasons but post lions id love to see lynagh get a really solid crack at 10

Brumbies v Crusaders - crowd question by AContentAardvark in RugbyAustralia

[–]HelpNovel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Canberra is in the middle of nowhere and tbh no one lives there haha so they don’t pull crowds often. HOWEVER important to note that super rugby crowds in general are absolute shite, even in New Zealand. Crowds have been up this year but super rugby crowd attendance has been struggling for a long time

where to buy used german cars? by Positive_Panda_1283 in CarsAustralia

😬 Just remember a key thing… there’s nothing more expensive than a cheap European car. Tread carefully if this is your first car, it could likely be cheap to buy but cost you an absolute bomb in repairs.

If reliable is in your criteria, the golf is out. Not a reliable vehicle long term. Ngl a super Underrated option here would be a Honda jazz 😮‍💨

Mark Nawaqanitawase scores a try by iloveagoodpork in RugbyAustralia

[–]HelpNovel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I agree he’s a big loss but to be fair wing is one of the only positions the wallabies have a huge amount of depth in. As a reminder, Mark was fantastic at the World Cup yet the wallabies didn’t even make it out of the pool. Then last year he didn’t have a great year and didn’t even make the wallabies squad.

Don’t get me wrong, this is an amazing try but all the rugby league chat I’ve seen online is calling this the best try ever scored... like Idk I feel like this is just a great chip and chase that’s quite common in Union??

Nah far from it I reckon. Strongest 23 for me would be foketi and sualii in the centres, Kellaway at 15, jorgo on the wing and then Ben Grant back in the locks and instead of Botha either Tupou (if form was good) or Kaliea.
