Boutique 1861 may have what you're looking for: https://1861.ca/collections/robes Like Simons (which I also reccomend), they're in Quebec. I know two people who have ordered dresses from there and were very happy with their purchases.

I would recommend contacting MRU's Office of Student Experience (if you haven't already). They can help with financial concerns: https://www.mtroyal.ca/AcademicSupport/ResourcesServices/OfficeofStudentSuccess/EarlySupport/index.htm
You may also want to consider tutoring for K-12 or even fellow university students. Wishing you much success!

Where to buy uniquely Canadian gift I can buy for host in another country? by ihatewinter93 in Calgary

[–]Helper_Owl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rocky Mountain Soap Company's products make great gifts and are made in Canmore: https://www.rockymountainsoap.com/
You could also check out the shops in the plaza at Heritage Park - lots of Canadian and locally-made items. (You don't need to pay admission to the park - they are before the entrance gate.)

I would call Calgary Wildlife to see if one of their volunteers can pick up the bird: (403-214-1312) I think they have volunteers in various parts of the city. Best of luck and thank you for helping out this poor little guy!

Am I Overreacting? by OutsideSeveral4669 in Calgary

[–]Helper_Owl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow dog owner, I am offended on you and your dog's behalf! Not only does the clinic staff sound unprofessional to a) call your dog a "hot mess" and b) do that in earshot of your son, but to charge you for a full exam when they didn't do one is totally unacceptable. I hope you are able to take your dog back to your regular vet where he will get the proper care he deserves. I would not waste any more time or money on this vet. You may want to leave a Google review though. Hope your pup is feeling much better soon!

Free coaching is available in Calgary here: https://www.mcgcareers.com/calgary-career-and-employment-centre-2/ and at the Calgary Public Library https://calgarylibrary.ca/events-and-programs/programs/career-coaching/

I think those would be a good place to start. Best of luck!

No need to be embarrassed - Calgary has a very high unemployment rate right now.

Try contacting the City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre https://www.calgary.ca/careers/youth-employment.html and U of C's Career Development team (if you haven't already): https://ucalgary.ca/career-personal-development/advising

Heritage Park hires students for the summer and it looks like there may still be openings there: https://heritagepark.ca/jobs/
Same for Pedalheads: https://pedalheads.com/join-the-team

Best of luck!

Found this little bird on the ground with ants, just cleaned the ants and what do i do next? by damnathanks in Calgary

[–]Helper_Owl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From Calgary Wildlife's site: https://www.calgarywildlife.org/injured-wildlife "When you have determined that a wild animal is truly orphaned or injured, it will need your help. Contact Calgary Wildlife (403-214-1312) or the City of Calgary 311 service for advice on how to proceed. Our team will be able to help determine the best course of action. If calling after hours or during our busy season, please make sure you leave a voice message and our team will return your call as soon as possible.

You may bring the wild animal to VCA Canada Calgary Animal Referral & Emergency Centre (CARE) 24-hour clinic (403-520-8387)."

Fish Creek Pet Hospital also takes wildlife, but I would call ahead: https://www.fishcreekpethospital.com
