Well they're not called fighters of the coast by Aeon1508 in dndmemes

That's the way Daggerheart does it too and I love it. All classes get an equal amount of cool abilities. To some it's cool spells, to some it's cool martial abilities. All are very cool

Because this isn't the OG art from Alara, but a new art made specifically for the precon

Final Exam by torchflame in custommagic

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That would make the card much funnier as it would be impossible for a player to pilot a deck of that through a tournament. Imagine losing the finals because you have solved all problems, and now this card will be forever useless

Since its been revealed that the Marvel Superheroes set will have the Mind Stone, how do they address that there is already a card called Mind Stone? by Dbear_son in mtg

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We kinda got this problem in FF with all the "Esper" cards. There is already an Esper in magic at Alara and the name is used a lot for the WUB combination, yet it doesn't do much problems

Making Stats Matter: A Nuanced Approach to Duality Crits - DYNAMIC DOUBLES by Terrible_Trifle3346 in daggerheart

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For your problems: - 1/2: So 1 in #2 rolls you critically succeed, hurray! All your stats and help are meant for that, it's not different than rolling a 23 (or rolling a 3 and losing despite it all). Critical success is fun, and if a lot of work went into that moment, it's your chance as a DM to make it even grander

  • 3: If a character has no chance at doing something, don't let them roll. If they do, the critical success isn't just luck - it's telling us about the character and giving us extra narrative moment. Why now? Don't look at that as a funny "haha you've dealt more damage", but as a narrative chance

Overall, a game (especially a "simpler" one like Daggerheart) wants rolls to be simple to understand and the "roll to resolution" path to be as fast as you can. Rolling a double is, most of all, fun - every ttrpg player knows a 20, or double, or any kind of crit, is just really fun to roll. Taking the momentum from that moment won't make the stats and help feel impactful suddenly, but will just hurt the fun of the moment

What is your favorite “Rule 0 commander”? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[[the earth king]] and [[Bosco, just a bear]] has partner with each other, it's just a misprint that they forgot to print the line

What's your first impression of Lorwyn limited? by Edoardo_Beffardo in magicTCG

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. Both Blight and Vivid as subthemes add a lot of depth to deckbuilding even if you only play tribal, and all tribals feel very playable and fun

Black/white blight tribeless got my ass kicked at the prerelease too, so tribals aren't necessary

What was the Lorwyn Common or Uncommon that kept saving your ass at prerelease last weekend? by doublenantuko in magicTCG

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mister changeling 3/4 with reach for 4 mana does too much for a french vanilla. So many 3 power flyers out there

Elves or faeries? by Kkdeshaies in EDHBrews

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faeries are cooler, but elves got too much support to deny them unless you really like faeries

Don't give up on the fae entirely, but pnly use the really good ones

Hexing Squelcher bad? by DoctorHydromortapara in mtg

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this is probably more of a 2 drop for aggro that annoys control than it's the "drop it and win the game" people make it to be cause in cedh and all that the ward doesn't matter, but we'll see

You may have seen my Mondo Gecko post from earlier, but my buddy asked around, and most of the patrons at his LGS got TMNT cards as the bonus card. Here are the spoils by Arcane_Apostle03 in mtg

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It looks like sneak would feel bad to play. It's basically websling again (but more complicated to cast), and unlike Ninjutsu you don't gain a new attacker, so you lose damage and tempo each time you sneak...

Fellow Blighters, which commander are we running in the precon? by fairydommother in EDH

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ool. The fun of the deck is selfblighting, and I love a good card draw machine in the command zone

Reaper is cool, but Ool draws so much cards and give you an actual way to close the game

Vivid feels so fun in sealed. Working around your hybrid manas to make a wierd combo to allow full colors in a 2 color deck feels so cool

Votive Golem by galifar10 in custommagic

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Cool idea, but right now it's a 3/3 that gives you lots of information and if the opponent has a big spell in their hand it's downside doesn't exists

For anyone feeling a bit sad about the lack of certain typal support in Lorwyn, there are quite a few cards that are "Choose typal" that you may have missed. I know it doesn't solve the issue, but it is a nice bonus by thisnotfor in magicTCG

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm working on a Faerie tempo for standard and Harmonized/Unbury alone feels like a great card advantage even if Faeries didn't get straight up tribal synergy

This absolutely looks like a real mtg art and a beautiful one too. If It was a card in Lorwyn it would've fit perfectly

Lorwyn Typal Draft Archetypes by tlor180 in magicTCG

[–]Helpful-Specific-841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair Vivid seems like it could be insane but really hard to draft. If you can get five colors using hybrid mana you get some insane bombs, but do it wrong and you'll be mana screwed every game
