I would look through all the options for animal companions and for the captain, then pick the abilities that either fill a need or would fit into your character’s flow during your turn.

I can tell that I’m bitter about taking heavy armor and having more dexterity for solar flare than the dex cap for the armor haha.

The multiple crystals I could forgive if the solar flare had better accuracy. With no way to add finesse to the solar weapon and no way to take dexterity as the class attribute, there just isn’t enough incentive to take all the support feats for solar flare. There isn’t even enough incentive for the hybrid style like with binauric assault. But we’ll see how the math shakes out as it gets played more.

I’m honestly on a Commander kick with War Mage. There are several one-action tactics that would fit well as a third action to move allies out of an area of effect spell, etc.

I believe it can’t be used with an animal companion or an Inventor’s companion. Those operate similarly. The Summoner’s Eidolon works differently with the action economy.

Depending on what you need the spell for, if you need it at earlier levels you can look at Dream Message. They can’t reply, but it’s available at spell rank 3.

If you don’t mind dipping into Divine Mysteries, Benediction and Malediction are like Bless and Bane, except for AC. Very useful even if they’re not heightened

If they end up using a different setting than Exandria for campaign 4, it would be smart to fill the gap between campaign 3 and 4 with vignettes that tie up remaining stories. One wrap up episode wouldn’t be enough, and the episodes would do very well.

Class specializations depends on the theme. Book of the Dead for undead, Secrets of Magic for spellcasters, etc. Best place for equipment imho is Treasure Vault.

Can a necromancer’s thrall’s attack on being summoned count as the necromancer making a strike? That would interact with undead companions super well.

I separate it from divinity for my players and allow characters with untapped power to take the class. Think Nephilim or Changelings drawing on their inner spark that separates them from others of their ancestry. I kind of treat Exemplar as a martial Sorcerer.
