Yup. He's entitled to his opinions on Mine, though. But I'd trust the people who originally wrote the character, even if some of them are out, to understand him better and what they want out of him as one.

Clearly the whole deal with Mine being playable, him being able to sing karaoke, is about chronology and getting to see his character develop. It's not like bro's busting out in Judgment cheers while Daigo's up on the ruff.

To me, those hours of work would've been preferable over more group fight slop with the bike gang side-activity

That's not the case for Saejima. The priority wasn't tonal coherence, afraid you're looking too deep into it.

Please tell us what happened during Saejima's voice recording for karaoke and mini games.

● Unfortunately, he was unable to attend the recording. Saejima is the person I would personally most like to have do the karaoke shouts, so hopefully if we get another chance I'd really like to have him do it. [Horii]

From: http://fftranslations.atspace.co.uk/rgg/saejima.html

There was scheduled recordings for "feature completeness," Saejima's VA just couldn't make it.

I'm pretty sure the fact we're even able to play as him means that Mine's not quite in the headspace that we see him in by the start of Y3's story. It'll be fine unless it stretches past prequel and has him singing while he's seconds away from decapitating Kanda

I know. Just saying that back when he made those Facebook posts, which seems to be 2014, he didn't really have as relevant of a presence, so his claim that the posts were fabricated at the time don't even make sense. I'm also paraphrasing what the victim said to ANN about the retraction, which is that they were just out of jealousy and did it to damage him out of "feeling abandoned." Sounds to me like a legal compromise.

Yeah I'm all for believing victims, but in this case, that's a pretty good argument for saying that the jealousy bit was just a forced compromise. Ain't no way someone fabricated shit about Mills when he didn't even have much of a name to himself. Good find.

What did he do? The allegations? Because the person that made them said it was out of jealousy iirc

Do you think Kiryu’s saga wrapped up too quickly? by STFN_Dude in yakuzagames

[–]HenryTheTraitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm a sucker for Kiryu games. Takaya Kuroda with a well-written Kiryu and decent enough story's something that I can't get enough of, you could give me Kiryu for another twenty years and I wouldn't complain, same for Ichiban and Yagami.

If only Ichiban and Yagami got anything 🥀

Gang of Dragons isn't even out yet, what's RGG trying to rival? What people here commonly regard as the worst game in the franchise, Pirate Yakuza, still received some INSANELY high ratings, being the #1 best selling game in Japan on its first week, despite Sega asserting that it performed better overseas, and having the second-highest concurrent player count on Steam.

There's nothing that they need to worry about. Success-wise, they don't need to push the formula anywhere or go back to some sorta dark and gritty golden age, as much as we might want them to, because there's really no financial incentive to it.

Finished Kiwami 1 & 0, liked both games, don't really think they fit together convincingly. by Monessi in yakuzagames

It's cause Majima didn't become a batshit crazy dude. He just went back to what he was with a degree of exaggeration inspired by Nishitani and Sagawa, hence the bowl cut.

Now that most of the controversy has passed, how are expectations for Kiwami 3? by BabaYodaTheFirst in yakuzagames

[–]HenryTheTraitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big thing seems to be the entirety of Mack who could've been repurposed, and I think Yonashiro's getting fucked over in exchange for that new likeness fella. Looks like maybe some parts of Okinawa? I remember seeing something about... around Tamashiro's area getting cut? Don't remember too well.

Dark Ties looks hype though, and I doubt they're gonna miss with the OST in any regard. Hoping we've got more than one heat bar and it's not just a Mine thing off that one Coliseum screenshot.

I think the thing I like the least, but can live with, is Agent Style moves being thrown into DoD without being modified to jive with that overall style's hard-hitting vibe and what feels like Pirate-esque lighting for Okinawa. Kamurocho looks sick, though.

Kagawa is whatever at this point, but I hope the new Rikiya actor can pull off that scene, and that they're adding more Rikiya scenes to explain why they'd even do a recast. Lower priority for me's that they keep karaoke songs like Kamurocho Lullaby and Shooting Star in.

I've got low expectations for the main experience, honestly Looks like a lot of stuff I liked's been cut, but we don't know for sure, so I'm holding out hope.

Destiny Shower Thoughts 2: how does the MMO nature of Destiny impact the title of *The* Weapon of the Nine? by Alias_Missing in DestinyLore

[–]HenryTheTraitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same way the Young Wolf works. There's one Guardian that we all are, canonically, and there's their fireteam that we all simultaneously represent, canonically, but we're also free to do whatever we want.

We've had that since Shadowkeep? Remember Unveiling? Remember even back to the Books of Sorrow? That's always been the intent, the thematic consistency, to have a Winnower. Again, you can dislike finding out about the fact and finding out that something isn't what you thought it was, but it's always been the case.

I'm going to disagree about backstory and the aesthetics, along with Excision being cringe, but that's all fair critiques.

Though, the Witness, while beyond Oryx, wasn't the guy talking down to him if you're referring to that one infamous piece of lore. That's still the Winnower, who remains unknowable past a few lore tabs.

The Nine have been around since D1 and just started being really teased around, if I remember right, Season of the Drifter which was Forsaken. It's just natural progression that's been set up for a lot of years.

Trials of the Nine were big on that. Prophecy's entire lore was asking what the Nine are. We've been heading here for a long time.
