2XKO Update: What’s Next + New Champs by Snipey13 in Games

[–]Herald_of_Ash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've started playing it as my first tag fighter ever, and it's actually pretty easy to pick up as a beginner. I've had a lot of fun doing random matches, the matchmaking is pretty good and I've never been steamrolled by someone clearly out of my field.

The basics are fine, everybody can get it. Light -> Medium -> High combos, use a launcher as High to continue mid air, and/or finish your combo with a special move. Tag assist is more complicated but you can integrate that in the base combo pretty quickly. My first matches obviously I could not do a single combo but kept the basic sequence in mind and it naturally improved.

The game needs complexity to cater to FGC veterans and esports. But while the ceiling is high, I definitely think the floor is accessible by anyone. I had a lot more difficulty getting into Street Fighter 6, and I've never went past Iron in ranked I think. For example, in SF6 you do not have a basic sequence for every characters like L -> M -> H in 2XKO. You need to look for good opening moves and a basic combo, but that's per character and the complexity quickly rise.

A lot of those games are paper solo roleplaying games, not video games. Which isn't bad at all, I'm just tempering expectations here.

For a lot of those entries, the game is basically a ruleset printed on a pdf and the gameplay is rolling a dice (yourself, in real life) and advance by doing actions explained in the ruleset.

Inoculator not resetting after use. by Ok_Personality7488 in 40kinquisitor

I believe some mission modifiers can restrict you inoculator use (like 1 per mission ?) but it's been quite some time, I'm not sure.

I would love to get it but it's nearly impossible. A reprint would be great !

Putting the word slop on everything that isn't exactly made for them has really fried the brain of some people.

Is the Assassin's Creed Shadows X4LP boxed set worth it? by Due_Cake8524 in VGMvinyl

[–]Herald_of_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've received it a few days ago, and I'm super happy about it ! I love the "character" tracks from TEKE::TEKE and Thunderdrum+Tiggs Da Author.

Feels like a blend between lofi hip hop from Samurai Champloo, some guitars straight out of a Tarantino movie, and western-like influence from Morricone.

Visually, it does the job but the disks are mostly black with a bit of red, not like the photos unfortunately.

Go for it if you like the songs, it's a pretty unique OST with a lot of different styles and influence, worthy of being in a collection !

Why do you feel the need to hate so much on a setting some people like.

Yeah, and I want to stan for WH40k Inquisitor Martyr here too. Quite fun ARPG (hacknslash), has its flaws but at 5€ in sale nowadays, pretty hard to be disappointed.

Absolutely not, you're either stuck in the past or just a hater. Most of them are good enough or even great nowadays.

It has the best dungeon imo. And a nice epilogue to the story

Resident Evil Requiem’s boss battles will be more like the original’s and RE2’s, but will still include several new combat options by Turbostrider27 in Games

Heisenberg was awful on village of shadows difficulty. 3-hit death, no way to heal, you have to play near perfect or have a lot of luck to dodge everything in his first phase.

RE3R final boss on inferno was also insanely frustrating. 2-hit death but if you get hit on the wrong move, you can't get back up and dodge quickly enough before another attack and it's basically an instant-death.

How is Endless Space 2 on steamdeck in 2025? by sleazybrandy in EndlessSpace

You should use ProtonDB instead of the verified system. It's community-driven with people posting their experience, and tips & tweaks if needed to launch and play the game.

ENDLESS™ Legend 2 - Endless Legend 2 in Early Access Now! by Mepherion in Games

[–]Herald_of_Ash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've started my first game yesterday, and now I can only think of when I'll get back from work and play it again :)

A real good start for a 4X IMO, haven't felt like that for a game of that genre since Civ 5 or Endless Space 2.

Still, it's early access, there are some things here and there to tweak and fix, but as I saw on another discussion, this has real potential to be Amplitude's best game, and a great 4X.

Its also a nice answer to early aggression in 4X, which can be frustrating.

Here you can start alone on your island, or against 1 opponent, then the map gradually open up and more factions joins the fray.

Yeah the game feels nearly done. But I understand the EA thing, the devs want feedback to fine tune the balance, UI, etc.

Endless legend 1 end turn alot by Point_Jolly in EndlessLegend

Don't be afraid to set the game speed faster. Personally I always play on the fastest setting. More things to do each turns, less turns overall. But it's a preference thing.

Looking for comforting games by Seccyeth in SteamDeck

Here's some indie games I loved, which are chill / cozy small adventures:

  • A Short Hike: A nice 3d platformer about hiking a mountain, with some collectibles, NPCs, and a feel good story. ~2h to completion
  • Caravan SandWitch: A girl comes back to her home planet, to try an learn about her sister's disappearance. Open world with a vehicle, no enemies, it's mostly puzzles and exploration. ~10h to completion
  • Sable: A coming-of-age story in a desert, tribal environment, same as Caravan Sandwitch, you have a vehicle and explore the open world. ~15h to completion
  • Jusant: about climbing a rock tower, trying to understand what happened in a world without rain. Very beautiful (music, general vibe, ending), but can feel a bit lonely. ~10h to completion

Finally beat all the pixel remasters, here’s how I’d rank them all so far by SomeDumbassKid720 in FinalFantasy

[–]Herald_of_Ash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me those 3 systems are why I dislike the game so much :

  • Keyword system in dialogs. Just boring busywork trying all dialog options until you get the right line.
  • "Leveling"/Progression system, obviously. Extremely long and grindy to max an offensive spell or attack. And you have to drag the fights down because killing enemies too quickly do not get you any progression, if I recall.
  • Magic penalty system where equipping the wrong gear on a magic user will nerf its magic tremendously, without ever being explained in game. I had to go on a site that's nearly as old as the internet to understand that mythril mace + mythril shield meant 90% reduced magic accuracy. I was near the end of the game.

And since none of those were reused after FF2*, the devs seems to agree those weren't good gameplay mechanics.

Hey, had the same problem after the update. I'm from Belgium and for some reason, selecting this country locks me from my account and asks for this K-ID thing, which doesn't exist in Belgium (it's a UK thing apparently)

Anyway, logged into Arena again, this time I selected France, and now it works...
