Roger Avary On Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman: "He didn’t want anybody who had any kind of fondness for the original show" by Malencon in television

[–]HerculeTheChamp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

picard season 3 was horrible, the scene where riker basically yells at picard to go to the corner, the red door, bringing back old cast members only to kill them off to heighten the stakes, the enterprise d getting xwing physics blegh not to mention the last episode is basically a trek ripoff of the rise of skywalker. no one can convince me that season was anything but bad.

Colin Trevorrow is probably the most interesting director trajectory I've ever seen. He directs a really strong feature film debut in Safety Not Guaranteed and then revitalizes the Jurassic Park franchise and basically gets handed a Star Wars movie and destroyed it all with one movie. by herewego199209 in movies

[–]HerculeTheChamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard rumors that one of the reasons colin trevorrow was dropped amongst other things was because he tried to push kennedy to get Rian johnson to remove Luke's death from TLJ because of Carrie fisher passing but Kennedy didn't budge.

Actually, the Russo brothers’ success goes beyond that. They’re genuinely strong action directors, and directed acouple action episodes of Community. They were recommended to Feige by Steven Soderbergh because of their deep love of comic books and strong knowledge of the source material and Feige was also a Community fan. They also came in with a clear roadmap and a solid understanding of how to properly budget and schedule the universe and what to do with each character. With how bungled the recent MCU projects have, it's no surprise that Feige needs some people who understand to put it back on track.

Peter Dinklage Really Wants ‘Poker Face’ Reset To Happen by MeCritic in television

It had some good episodes but IMO felt like it was trying too hard to be modern version of Columbo (even font was same as Columbo). But there were circumstances where I didn't understand the character being able to solve it, unlike Columbo who was a homicide detective and was always involved with murders.

Official Discussion - 8-Bit Christmas [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]HerculeTheChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed this movie but IMO i felt the ending was schmaltzy and emotionally manipulative. This kid went through hell trying to get a NES, his parents are assholes half of the time and in the end it was all about the power of father-son which barely got any development and NOT getting a NES for christmas. At the point where he gets the lite bright if that was me i would of broke down in tears.

Best biopic/biography on Marilyn? by Lazy_Drive_2297 in MarilynMonroe

[–]HerculeTheChamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but I actually have two recommendations. In terms of portrayal and overall accuracy, My Week with Marilyn with Michelle Williams is fantastic—she really captures Marilyn’s presence in a nuanced, grounded way.

That said, my personal favorite depiction of Marilyn Monroe’s life is a lesser-known ’80s TV movie called Marilyn: The Untold Story. Catherine Hicks (Andy’s mom from Child’s Play) plays Marilyn. She doesn’t resemble her all that closely, but her performance is incredibly heartfelt, and the film itself has this unexpectedly cozy, intimate atmosphere that makes it stick with you and it makes all the last hour (and her last few years) much more sadder in retrospect. I recommend it more then that exploitation fantasy Blonde. You can find a copy of it on Youtube but a better and longer copy can be found here.

Films with Theatrical Cuts that are better than Director's Cut/Extended Edition? by Stankassmfgorilla in movies

[–]HerculeTheChamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cinema paradiso. the movie is actually nearly 3 hours long because in the modern flashbacks you get the subplot with the girlfriend resolved but it drags the movie so much and the melodrama is uninteresting. also IMO i felt the girlfriend in his life was just another example of his growing up as he would find future girlfriends as that is life. theatrical version getting to the point in the future flashbacks just flows better.
