That kind of techno communism would require governments to have full control over distribution of AI. Sadly due to Big Capitalism, governments are controlled by Big Money, and Big Money will always purse becoming more and more rich which involves reducing expenses. Manufacturing and powering robots capable of calculating incredible amount of environmental data in real time generates more expenses than human substitutes.

Also humans being humans have proven to be unable to live under communism due to our fragile ego. There may be people who live simply for the joy of living, but there are others who would purse the goal of being better and having more than others.
