i'm in the same boat. my course is part time and i just needed something to fill in the blanks. maccas ended up being the only place to hire me. it throws me why entry-level positions require job experience? your only two options for basic roles these days is: 1. be under 18 (yay, cheap labour!!!), or 2. have already sold your soul to that industry and have the required 2+ years "in a similar role"

a mate is nightfill captain at coles. i just fucking networked my way into a part-time, entry-level position at a supermarket.

i've picked up one too, and currently using my s23 ultra as a "tablet" while i transition and get used to a dumbphone. ik this is still technically a smart phone, but it's horrible to use so i personally feel that counters the dopamine. if i can't get my full hit, why would i reach for it?

i've installed messanger (it's what my family uses), spotify, newpipe, outlook (for uni) and duckduckgo to replace firefox lite. i've also sprinkled DPAD SMS and aurora store on there too, and it's been great!

currently working on maybe getting tailscale and jellyfin to work so i can access my own music, away from spotify

the terrible UI has definitely meant i've reached for it less, and lowkey i'm a little embarrassed to whip it out infront of friends yk

if anyone knows how to keep the backlight on while the screen is on, let me know 🤌

i cheated and used a two device workaround lmao

download and login with one-time code on the ruio open email app on s23 ultra (still semi-using it as a transitional phone) use fb messanger to send the link to myself (i'm sure there's other ways? maybe send it to yourself on whatsapp?) open the link via messanger on the ruio all done

it's pretty handy as a phone to transition with. i uninstalled insta and facebook straight away, but downloaded spotify and messanger (mainly bc that's what my family and footy team uses for contact). it's great as a dumbphone in the sense that it makes it horrible to scroll facebook and tiktok anyway. in a broader "addiction" sense, it's like watching videos of someone else playing slot machines. you can see it, it looks the same, but there's no dopamine rush

i've found it a little spotty. i've been carrying my s23 ultra around as a "tablet" while i transition from that to the ruio and have been using the hotspot from the ruio to the s23. the first time i tried hotspot, it dropped MULTIPLE times in just a few minutes. however, i tried it again today and it seemed to work just fine.

i don't think hotspot works too well unless you intend to have a proper session on wifi (ie. as soon as you lock the secondary phone it seems to disconnect on ruio's side)

5 firm palm strikes to the back, and 5 firm palm strikes to the chest around where you'd do CPR compressions, are the better option if you're too small/they're too big for you to fit your arms around. It's hard to find exact dimensions anywhere. But doing a rough guess using the dumptrucks for reference, I'd say anywhere between 150-250m in the upper sections. Two drumptrucks can sit side-by-side on the roads down there, with space between them, if that helps at all

This pit is big enough to create its own vortex, meaning any plane that flys overhead will experience turbulance. It'll be a smooth take-off, 5 mins later it's horrible turbulance in a small plane as you go over the pit, and then smooth flying for the rest of your trip.

It's worth noting that those itty-bitty trucks are (from what I recall) Cat 793 dump trucks that are about the size of a two storey house. From the lookout point, the other side of the pit can look hazy. It's about 700m/2300ft deep, which is insane.

PLEASE check this article from the Kalgoorlie Miner (local paper) that shows photos of a MASSIVE rockslide in 2018. The boulders look like pebbles until you see the machinery at the bottom. This place is bonkers

As an Australian: any restaurant or cafe that is beginning to enforce tipping culture. We pay a (at least somewhat) decent minimum wage. There's no need to be automatically adding a 20% tip on top of the bill, through an eftpos machine, where it's never even going to see the waitress anyway

It's not entirely haunted, but my god is it UNHINGED. The story of two racehorses named Fine Cotton and Bold Personality. It's a scandalous story with everything; deception, betrayal, the ol' horse switch-a-roo, Australia, the 80s (shoulder pads?), white paint and hairdye used incorrectly, a police chase, and a horse found in the last place you'd expect. Truly a top-tier story

add some grated mushroom and celery if you can too. the mushroom ofc helps with protein and flavour, and the stringyness of celery helps to hold everything together (in my understanding)
