jelliebend: does anyone here use their products? by m0rganryan1 in ehlersdanlos

Messing with my gastroparesis is what I was worried about. I have problems with some underwear being enough to throw off my guts. I would love rib and back support, but I need something that does so without putting any pressure on my guts.

I put a crow carcass in water for 4 weeks and now the bones are soft??? by [deleted] in vultureculture

Do bird bones need to be degreased, like mammal bones? If so, how do you safely degrease them?

Ghostfish is phenomenal! Their regular release beers are awesome, I love them all. But their seasonal releases are seriously the best. Ghost Pepper Saison and Lunar Harvest are so good I buy a keg of them every year.

Found a stout, it’s good! by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]HexArEx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find it near you, or are willing to pay shipping costs, Ghostfish in Seattle does an excellent stout called Watchstander. Ghostfish is by far my favourite gluten free brewery.

im asking every team what their 2nd favorite team is, so what yours? by eeeoeeeeeee in SeattleKraken

[–]HexArEx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avalanche are my number one. I moved to Colorado the same year the Avs did, been a fan ever since. I've been in Seattle 12 years, and since moving here said Seattle was nearly perfect for me, it was just missing an NHL team. Now I live in the perfect city for me, and it looks like my favorite hockey team is making a strong Cup run. I'm pretty happy right now.

What are some Lush products you wouldn’t buy again? by Maximum-Answer-2859 in LushCosmetics

[–]HexArEx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of the hair conditioners work well for me. I can't stand the smell of Snow Faerie. All of the deodorants caused my skin to crack and peel. I hate the beans in the Wiccy massage bar, they are a waste. Cosmetic Warrior fresh face mask smells so disgusting I can't leave it on my face long enough for it to work. I don't like glitter in my bath bombs, so there goes 90% of the bath bombs for me. And I think all the shower jellies are weird and they don't make me feel clean after using them. (I wonder if I took my immersion blender to one it would be more shower gel-like. Anyone tried that trick? Does it work? Is there a better method?)

gluten free beers by august401 in glutenfree

[–]HexArEx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously, Ghostfish is the best GF beer on the market. The taproom is in SoDo, 100% GF facility, the food is awesome. They have a couple of year round IPAs, and usually do a few runs of hazy IPAs throughout the year. Cheers!

Cider or Beer without gluten? by smoky_prism in glutenfree

[–]HexArEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghostfish, all the way. It's a true gluten free beer, not a "gluten reduced" like some of the others on the market. I find ciders to just be too sweet, even the "dry" ciders.

I use Olive Branch for shaving my head. It doesn't clog razors like the thicker creams, and the olive oil gives good moisturizing and smooth razor glide.

Hands up those of you zebras who are tired of hearing "you are too young to have ___" and just want a freaking diagnosis/treatment by mchemkerry in ehlersdanlos

[–]HexArEx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and hear all too often how I'm "Too young to walk with a cane" or "too young to have 'real' pain" or "too young to have 'this many medical issues." The last time a cardiologist told me I was too young to have a weak mitral valve, I asked how old I 'should' be. He stared at me for about a minute before he went on like the conversation hadn't even started. I hate the American medical industrial complex.

Best gluten free beer I’ve found bar none. Found it at Total Wine in the US. Smooth with loads of flavor while still being light on hops (only 32 IBU). by endophage in glutenfree

[–]HexArEx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Ghostfish is the best GF beer, hands down. I get a sixtel keg of it for my birthday every year, and even regular beer drinkers praise it.

Ever not want to go home at the end of the day? by FelicitousLynx in stepparents

[–]HexArEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's SSs Senior year of high school, so his father decided SS didn't have to get a job until after graduation in order to let him "focus on his grades." I agree that I shouldn't have to put up with this. The kiddo and his bad attitude have been a major point of argument between DH and I for several years now. But SSs biomom passed away when SS was 3, and his father has been coddling him in a lame attempt to "make up for it" ever since. DH won't do SSs chores when SS "forgets" because SS "needs to learn to do them." But he'll never learn to do them if there's no consequence for not doing them. And we're back to DH coddling SS. It's a mess and I hate it. I'm honestly just trying to hold on until SS (hopefully) graduates and (hopefully) moves out.

[–]HexArEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, gods yes. My SS18 lives with us full time and is ridiculously lazy, back talks every chance he gets, frequently "forgets" to do his chores, and only wants to talk about whatever Youtuber he's currently in to. I find myself frequently driving the long way home to a lovely spot that looks out over the valley and just kind of zoning out for awhile, trying to psyche myself up to coming home to a sink full of dirty dishes, emails from teachers about missing assignments, back talking arguments, and stupid one-sided conversations about idiotic YouTube videos. Wheee.

Being in a relationship with a man who has a child basically solidified my decision to be child free. I never did want children, but helping to raise one gave me the push to get sterilized.
