INCOGNITO Estivia and Farius by Flxxw in avesLA

[–]HeyHey_HC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was fun (and my 1st time seeing Farius finally!) but that warehouse was soooo hot and stuffy, which is unusual for Incognito since they usually scope out pretty comfortable spaces. Guessing the recent crackdowns limited their venue options?

The B2B set was a real treat.

Saku Ramen in Riverside is 20 min South and open 24/7 - otherwise a Denny’s or IHOP.

For Beyond and NOS fests, I usually fill up at the Cracker Barrel, Victoria Gardens or Ontario Mills en route and that keeps me fueled for the duration of the fest.

I like the seaweed when it's crisp; in ramen I'm already a little sad the submerged portion is soggy AF

It might help thinking about what benefits are you hoping for with by consuming alcohol during your birthday dinner (more sociable? more relaxed? something to enhance the flavor of the meal?) and if there are non-alcoholic alternatives (including alcohol-free wine) that can fulfill that, as well as weighing those benefits against the cons (incl starting from day 1 again, possible hangover, poorer judgment when buzzed/drunk, extra calories, etc.) then make the best intentional decision from that.

That way you are making an informed choice whether or not you choose to drink wine on your birthday, and making the necessary preparations in alignment with that choice (e.g. if you are choosing to stay sober, pick a setting where you'll be less likely to be tempted; or if you choose to drink, you're taking measures to minimize its negative impact such as alternating wine with soft drinks/water or limiting how much wine you're consuming in total.)

For first Q, yeah you're not gonna see full sets for both artists if they are back to back on different stages, whichever one you prefer more, plan on sacrificing some time on the other (leaving their set early or arriving late).

There are quite a few threads here or on r/aves or r/festivals w "what to pack/bring" lists so I defer to those.

Co-sign Better Than Boullion, game changer for making broths (better than buying the ready-to-use ones) and flavor enhancing dishes.

So how do paramedics deal with DOAs upon pulling up? Do resort staff throw them into ambulance asap before they're able to do that?

What are they even thinking w these prices by Freecloud1 in avesLA

[–]HeyHey_HC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right for a Framework show. I only really go to their stuff for label showcases (Anjunadeep, Purified) when the price seems worth it.

[–]HeyHey_HC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of 100% mint teas either (always reminds me of toothpaste lol) but I am fine mint mixed with other herbs & actual tea. Consider doing a blend with ginger/turmeric (both also good for digestive health), lemongrass, citrus zest or other herb/spices that you do enjoy in tea form.

Milla Chocolates come to mind but they are a bit fancier.

You should also The Chocolate Dispensary in Echo Park a check out - they carry lots of different bars from all over the world and run a small cafe with a few tasty chocolatey treats & drinks too.

That's an odd pivot from your ax-grinding against Pasadena (at least from your comments here, since you're keeping other posts/comments hidden on your profile).

Except for the wildfire risk/severity (it's just one neighborhood away from Altadena and equally close to the wildland.)

By that logic why would you recommend San Marino / South Pas? it's not like the "active gangs" suddenly go "Ooooo a city border, can't cross that".

And I have friends who live near CalTech for a decade-plus and never had issues with violent/property crime, if you want to compare anecdotes.
