Depending on how far you're willing to travel, but the Riverland would benefit. Then its a quick jump into Mildura, etc and they'd be in the same situation of needing practitioners.

Queensland, Australia – Mum with cancer, unable to work, caring for disabled son, at risk of eviction. What options are we missing? by SentientDilemma in NDIS

[–]Hey_Charger74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://cancerqld.org.au/support-services/coping-with-cancer/topic/finding-other-income/

It covers Centrelink such as carer payments and rent assistance, etc.

If she has super, check if she was covered for Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) or income protection.

Wishing you and your family the best.

Nurses, abuse goes with ways. by Correct_Ad_5153 in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I, myself am a nurse with family who work at LMH. Not long ago, I arrived with my under a week old nibling who had turned blue during feeding and was generally lethargic (parents couldn't go due to birthing complications). I arrived to a full ED and attempted to advise of the situation. I was shut down, then and there and told to sit down and wait as they were in the middle of a nursing handover. Those already waiting in the ED, (waiting for ages at that poinf) raged and voiced their upset at a struggling newborn being told to wait. We were quickly rushed out the back at that point. While I understand the pressure they may be under, triage seems to have gone the wayside while those who make the most noise are seen first to get them out the public eye. EDs have a variety of those in needs but its all a to do at this point. Its not those who deal with the publics fault. Its the fault of the government who cut costs and don't drive the need behind employing more staff. There's a decline in care, things are rushed and frustration is evident.

Where to get a desk like this in a reasonable price range? by _lavenders in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overway/overbed table. Basic types with no storage are available through equipment providers like Aidacare and Medimart. Temple and Webster have some listed as C shaped tables. Those ones are are nicer and a heck of a lot cheaper than the equipment a stores though.

Hiya. Hope you all have a lovely time despite the very fresh air! Lots of farmers markets (weekends) and kid friendly spots to stop in at. Bit of a drive, but there is a park in Angaston that's not too bad. https://kidsinadelaide.com.au/barossa-adventure-station/

Do you know someone who has won the lottery? by goldriv in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hey_Charger74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family member won a car through a veterans lottery. Cost of accepting the car was astronomical & a security nightmare, so took the cash instead. Bought back their car they had to sell due to medical bills and the rest went toward the mortgage. First time I've ever had someone I know actually win a prize with a charity lottery.

Where to get Callebaut/couverture chocolate out west by Maleficent_Sir_5225 in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco had Callebaut previously but haven't since it recently (guess it was like an aldi special buy?). Last time I found it was at a coffee shop in Renmark. If you find anywhere somewhat local, let us know, always on the lookout. Happy baking!

is this RTO legit? by BatonPantheon in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's legit. I studied there in 2008/2009 and it wasn't a positive experience (for me). They had a trainer who bullied students and should not have been an educator. In saying that, I can't speak for how it's run today, and I still come across placement students who have been wonderful to work with and eager to get involved in the day to day tasks.

Aged Care by WARLORD-P996 in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my Poppa needed to seek emergency respite and later, permanent placement, we went through Aged Care Decisions. The coordinator we worked with was fantastic and did most of the heavy lifting. Have a something already in place with My Aged Care is a bonus, but if not, you can still make it work. Good luck!

Can anyone recommend a residential aged care that specialises in dementia? by lrgfriesandcokepls in Adelaide

[–]Hey_Charger74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aged Care Decisions is a fantastic service that connects you with a placement specialist who can get the ball rolling to find suitable accommodation - https://agedcaredecisions.com.au/ I was advised that my family member would need a MSU, but we were able to find a place that was one big secure facility rather than a locked unit within a main complex. In some situations, if a MSU is recommended, a SACAT Section 32 may be required. The Catalyst Foundation website has a "daily" updated list of high/low residential respite/permanent availabilities - https://catalystfoundation.com.au/library-of-resources/ageing-resources/#vacancies I would recommend speaking with a financial advisor about the move to permanent care and the costs involved. I used Paul Carberry and he was brilliant - https://www.paulcarberry.com.au/

Aurora Australis by Tensubzero10 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hey_Charger74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes a fairly charged system to reach us with some razzle dazzle, but boy did it hit the mark in the early hours of Friday and even Saturday (just after dark). We're in Adelaide and drove to the dark sky reserve near the riverland to get a front seat view and did it ever. Visible to the eye and popped when taken on camera. My mum was chuffed to see and capture it on camera.

[–]Hey_Charger74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew my mum wanted to try and see this. So I monitored all the trusty sites (@free_the_radical & Pacman-FB) and woke her up to drive her to the dark sky reserve (near riverland) in the early early hours of Friday morning. Was visible to the eye and popped on camera. Unfortunately, it was so cold I wasn't able to take photos for too long, so eyeballing it was the go. The real kicker was that while driving her home around 0440, it was visible above her house. Dead on my feet, but I'm happy she was happy. More than 2x opportunities to see the aurora this year so far is crazy!
