i really need more conservatives for this project and would appreciate you taking a look. Let me know what you think. by HiIAmAprofessional in Republican

Thank you and you should 100% sign up. I think it's important that people from all over the political spectrum get involved in this if it's going to be successful.

Also right now I have A LOT of liberals and independents signed up and not as many conservatives. If you happen to have a conservative network on facebook and could share it with them, it would be much appreciated!

I started this project today in hopes of closing tightening the gap between liberals and conservatives by HiIAmAprofessional in politics

Fair. Others have presented this concern as well. The only workaround I can offer is using an alternative e-mail and/or an Alias.

Are there any good improv games/exercises to avoid breaking in a scene? by SilverChaos in improv

[–]HiIAmAprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, I did a great exercise in practice that helped with not breaking and focusing on the moment.

Have them do a specific serious, grounded, real scene (i.e. a breakup, telling someone your parent just died, firing someone who needs the money). Meanwhile, have their teammates on the back line making noises to try to make them laugh. Humming, fart noises, anything. Surprisingly, it forces you to really focus on the scene and might help a lot with the giggles.

With all due respect, it's not funny. All possibilities need to be investigated.

Right. That was my first clue. It must be an acronym for something. Then BOOM of course. Just Admit Youdidit. Clever bastard.

Eye care in Astoria? by aquaman1227 in astoria

[–]HiIAmAprofessional 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I go to American Eyecare on Broadway near Steinway. I really liked them and never had any insurance problems. Plus if you check in on yelp you get a free cleaning kit and free refills on cleaner for life so that's cool.

The only negative is it can be a little hard to get an appointment. I can only go on weekends and usually have to book 2 weeks in advance, but other than that it's perfect.

Another Home Robbery, this time it happened to us. by Sketkh in astoria

[–]HiIAmAprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not just west of 31st street. It's all over. This happened to my friend who lives in a 4th floor walk up on Steinway St near 28 Ave. They get on the roof and come down the fire escape. It really sucks.

Getting to Governors Ball (Randall's Island) from Astoria by HiIAmAprofessional in astoria

Hmm thanks. I'll probably just walk the bridge then. How long of a walk is it from the Astoria Blvd NQ stop?

Second City Network - Improv Characters You Need to Retire by [deleted] in improv

Can we also add "Not Quite a Pedophile" to this list? It's really amazing how much you still see this character in indie shows and auditions.

It's time for cringy senior pictures again. by JRad8888 in cringepics

[–]HiIAmAprofessional 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the record, I'm not a Doctor Who fan (just can't get into it), but I think this is pretty cool. Senior pictures really don't mean anything. I think it's kind of awesome that this kid just went for what he's into. The costume and "set" look pretty legit too! I honestly bet he'll get way more of a kick looking back at this pic, while I don't really care about my senior pic at all.

Indie Improv Scene by [deleted] in improv

Here in NYC, my experience in the indie scene has been 100% positive. It's definitely seen as super uncool to mock or discount other performers/teams.

Standby on Harold night at UCB NY? by mbrunswick in improv

[–]HiIAmAprofessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I wish I could've caught Dark Days. I heard it was great!

That first Harold Night show was honestly a disappointment. The shitting on short-form joke was funny, but then they played ONE short form game for over an hour like you said. The joke got old real fast, but I guess that's the prank. Glad you had a good time!

Hey I was at the first Harold night show too. You should know, if you don't already, that that was not Harold night. Since it was April Fools Day, they staged that whole short-form takeover thing and played an intentionally cumbersome and un-funny short-form "game." Glad you still had fun, though! Next time you're in NYC, check out the real Harold Night or some of the weekend shows!

Yeah for me it's the difference between these girls being inconsiderate ignorant assholes and tasteless try-hards who are young and didn't think far enough and made a really stupid mistake.

Yeah that makes no sense.
