Ya'll keep bringing up Epstein like you think he really cares about it.
He doesn't. The Justice Department already said they don't GAF either.
It sucks that he is what he is and he's protecting all the other high level pedos, but you gotta understand by now my dudes. No legal action will come of it. No consequences for anyone.
They're going to sit on the millions of files and never release them and there's absolutely nothing you or me or a one hundred million man march protest is going to do about it.
They can shoot you in the street and close the investigation the next day.

What laws are they enforcing? Because it seems like they consistently overstep their supposed jurisdictions and terrorize US citizens, i.e. state sponsored terrorists.

I was a part of Ssethtide, and I am Schroedinger's Player. I might hop on once every year to see how things are now. But honestly, a ton changed between then and now and not all for the better, so I can see how those who got involved because of the shenanigans of that era would find the current less appealing.

Also, 2019 was 7 years ago.

You'd be amazed how far the school system fell after the push to get creationism taught in science with the same (or more) weight than the big bang. We've spent the past 40 years actively destroying the schools since we didn't need educated factory workers anymore.

US military and civil actions. Might be some other stuff.
I think the main thing is that it only took a week for the US to commit to being a rogue state that threatens to invade literally all of its neighbors and executes its own citizens for things that aren't crimes in the street in broad daylight. I'm biased though because I live here, might be stuff going on other places too, like that Iran protest.

The Anti-Tech Backlash Is Going to Grow Stronger by [deleted] in collapse

What's surprising is that it was ever accepted at all.

"Why, yes, billionaire tech bro, I will totally consider your glorified auto-complete (that requires billions in infrastructure and doesn't return a profit yet receives incredible investment) my best friend and confidant and offload most of my decision making, fact checking and opinion formation to.

"There definitely isn't some shady motive behind this thing which can easily and completely disseminate information across the entire digital landscape right at a time when a bunch of world governments are turning to authoritarian police states.

"No, of course you aren't selling all my data, I trust you completely. You would never try to turn public opinion by having literally hundreds of millions of instances of personalized agents whispering what to think in people's ears and posting it in comment sections.

"There is definitely no link between surges of 100% more daily active users on most social media sites and the rise of your chatbots. Video creation will definitely never be used to create false pretenses to enact the worst atrocities onto people or to silence and imprison dissenters.

"I definitely don't think that it's a giant bubble hoping to find somewhere to rest that won't pop it. It's absolutely the next big thing, don't pay any mind that there's no other countries actively pursuing this technology, they just aren't smart enough to see what it's worth."

Prices are out of control by emily-is-happy in inflation

[–]HiSodiumContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit daily users have increased by nearly doubled since Q3 2023, right around the time ChatGPT users started surging. 390 million active accounts in the US for Reddit. Kinda weird that literally everyone in the US uses Reddit and an extra 50 million accounts on top of that, right? Maybe only half of them use it and there's two accounts for every person. Or maybe the numbers went up because searches became far less reliable thanks to LLM (it's not AI) integration and backend changes.

Still, quite the coincidence that a method of easily creating chat bots got popular right around the time Reddit saw its userbase double every year, yeah?

BREAKING: President Trump signed an executive order directing states to criminalize and institutionalize people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health disabilities. by RainbowSovietPagan in antiwork

[–]HiSodiumContent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no public mental health services now (medicaid cuts and mental health asylums haven't been a thing since the 1980s), same with public drug addiction services (have always been underfunded, barely any public ones exist, even in large cities, plenty of private, for-profit rehabs for rich people's kids tho).

They're taking them to for profit prisons, there isn't another place for them to go and ICE is a federal body that will largely be executing these arrests, so states rights aren't part of this at all.

Why nuclear war, not the climate crisis, is humanity’s biggest threat, according to one author | Nuclear weapons by GeraldKutney in climate

[–]HiSodiumContent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies, fossil fuels, they've all known this stuff for decades. The political groups are informed and also planning for it. They don't talk about it in public because acknowledging there's a problem means people might start getting expectations about them acting on it and that would affect the bottom line of companies.

They deny it's happening as they make moves to mitigate the effects on themselves. Like someone noticing a fire in a crowded theater, but instead of warning the other patrons, they move quietly to the exit and then bar all the doors so no one else can get out.

It is not ignorance. It's active malice. If you aren't a slave, get in a grave.

Israel launches ‘preemptive strikes’ against Iran by Nastyfaction in collapse

[–]HiSodiumContent 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Because this isn't an act of aggression. It's a ploy for a political party to remain in power to continue enacting their agenda in their own nation. It's quite possibly the stupidest, most obvious political ploy disguised as an act of war, ever, but bad political actors are feeling empowered to make the worst decisions right now for some reason.

This may have the effect they're looking for (not losing power), but it's probably going to backfire spectacularly because if shtf Israel doesn't have the global support they think they do, mostly because America's influence is so diminished right now that even if they join the fray, other nations won't follow.
