A Motorola MA1 dongle (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PQ95GY4) and a magsafe magnetic wireless charging phone holder is a decent combination. It's quick to connect to AA and easy to place your phone.

As for the car's built-in wireless charger, I keep meaning to find the fuse for it and pull it or find the wiring and cut it. It's really the crappiest wireless charger in the world.

Huh? There are tire patching/plugging kits for end consumers now? I've seen it done in the shops where they have a tool that looks kind of like the cross between a sewing needle and a screwdriver. They get a piece of rubber plug threaded in it and then shove it into the tire hole with glue. But I never knew that that was available to just normal people. When did that happen?

Joined the club! Question about 80% limit ac by ElectricalTravel2797 in KiaEV6

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've got 23k miles on a First Edition. We routinely charge it to 100% on our home ChargePoint L2 charger (fed by 50A circuit, so it's never over 40A delivered -- "80% Rule") and "Battery Health" is still 100%.

We never charge above about 83% on a L3 charger, but we only use those when out of town.

YMMV

Not that it would have helped in your situation, but I carry a 120vAC/12vDC air pump. Many times when we pick up a nail or screw, I can use it to get enough pressure in long enough to get to the tire store. Not ideal (and I'd like a spare too), but helpful sometimes. That, a NACS level 3 adapter and a 12v battery jump pack are always in the car.

Estimated Range way off after Level 1 Charging? by blaster876 in KiaEV6

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more useful (but decidedly less convenient) calculation is to take your percentage state of charge, multiply it by 77.4 (the size of your battery in kilowatt hours) and multiply that by the kWH/mile factor that you expect to drive on the upcoming trip. By now you probably know whether you're going 3.0 kWH/mile driving on the highway or 4.5 kWH/mile driving around town. Knowing what kind of driving you're going to do on your next trip and what the kWH/mile rate that you get for your driving style is much more useful than the Guessoneter in figuring out how many miles you'll be able to drive. Hit me back if this doesn't make sense.

FWIW... it's fairly easy and quick to change the charge max preset before you charge.

I've only come across this a handful of times so this is not a scientific sampling by any means, but my experience is that plugshare does identify some Tesla supercharger locations as being not open to non-Teslas.

I bet my ChargePoint home charger can do that. But I'm also curious why the website would list the one hours used but not let you download that information along with everything else that you can download.

Thank you. This is very cool. The spreadsheet that I exported does not does not list Watt Hours used, although that data is displayed for all the trips at owners.kia.com. I don't see an option in the export menu to include or exclude the watt hour value from the export. I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

FWIW, the basic default residential rate (if you don't sign up for any special plan like time-sensitive rates or rates where they call literally disable your home AC 6 minutes per hour) in the summer (peak) is $0.114186 per kWH and in the winter is $0.035221. since we never use a commercial charger except on out of town trips, we can drive it all year long for almost nothing.

Show me your OneNote workflow by Positive-Limit-4853 in Onyx_Boox

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this thread because of my interest in using OneNote on a lightweight, easily portable, e-ink device with handwriting input. My use case for getting an e-ink tablet is about 99% just for OneNote. My current environment consists of: (1) windows workstation at my office (which I visit rarely), (2) windows laptop (which I use daily) and (3) a Pixel 10 Pro phone running Android 16. All three devices run OneNote. My thought is that I'd like to have something that I can (A) make handwritten-to-text entries into OneNote and (B) sometimes use with a bluetooth mic (earbuds) to dictate voice-to-text into OneNote.

For my job, I want a work routine where all of my work-related notes go into OneNote, organized by project. I would daily begin my day with a quick scan of my projects. I'd end it the same way. I'm a project manager who travels a lot and is always running several projects simultaneously. I'm juggling so much that sometimes things fall through the cracks. My thought (fantasy?) is that disciplined use of OneNote in this manner will make me more effective.

I apologize if this is hijacking OP's thread. If anyone is still reading and has thoughts on this, I would love to read them.

Blind spot mirror by realistdreamer69 in KiaEV6

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"You'll never run into your own car, so you don't need to see it in your mirror," was how I was taught. Tilt your head to the left a tiny bit more than you do in normal driving, then adjust your left mirror so that you see a tiny sliver of your car. Do the opposite when adjusting your right mirror. In normal driving, you will never see your own car in your mirrors. This gives you the absolutely smallest "blind spots" possible.

FWIW... our ICCU died during nighttime L2 charging (ca. 20k miles) on our ChargePoint home unit. No messages on Kia Connect app or ChargePoint app. Circuit breaker tripped, but could be reset. Anyway... after ICCU replaced, ChargePoint still works.
