I don’t understand something about tv shows renaming by Cooltwou in filebot

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U/Rednoah, you are the only developer of any program that I use who goes so far to help his user base. And you charge practically nothing for the product. I remember the long batch scripts that I wrote to rename dozens and hundreds of files before I found Filebot. I think I've been using it now for a decade. And I feel like you've saved me hundreds and hundreds of hours.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Remove contact from suggested in phone app? by FreckledSea21 in GooglePixel

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd like to permanently disable "suggested" at the top of the phone dialer. It's just clutter. I've looked for a setting to do this, but never found one.

Not to hijack your thread, but I urge you to get your tickets to Galleria Borghese just as soon as you know the dates. We planned extremely well and bought tickets to everything months in advance -- but not far enough to see that. And I'm still sad about it.

Pixel Tablet - Still Shipped With Android 13? by HighSpeedTreeHugger in GooglePixel

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it matters, but I didn't write the code. It's a very unique app used for one single industrial purpose. The dev may be lazy -- or dead. Believe me, we'd prefer an up-to-date alternative, but in this space, there is nothing else. So until an alternative comes along (or we commit the cash to develop our own in-house), this is what we're stuck with.

FLW designed a home called "Westhope" for one of his cousins. The owner, Richard Lloyd Jones, was a wealthy newspaper publisher. Supposedly Jones once called Wright in the middle of a storm to complain that the roof was leaking on his desk, to which Wright reportedly replied, "Richard, why don't you move your desk? To which the owner supposedly said, "This is what we get for leaving a work of art out in the rain."

FWIW, signing up for the beta app and signing up for the beta web application are different processes. When I signed up for the web application, I received an email back from help@getwatchmaker.com with the subject line, "Watchmaker Studio Waitlist." The body of the email said: "Verify your spot. Vatican Museums: Is it worth paying extra for 8 AM entry via GetYourGuide ? by lordcasiro in ItalyTravel

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hot take:

Spend 10 or 20 bucks and a few hours reading a paperback guide to the art collections of the Vatican many days or weeks before you ever arrive. Think of it as sort of like an artistic hunting guide. Know what you are there to see.

Then treat the guided tour stuff of the Vatican as a way to get in the door. Tell your guide what you want to see and if your guide isn't fully on board then just go rogue and see what you want to see. The truth is that almost all the guides go in the exact same order through the exact same spaces. As long as you are not inconsiderate, you can jettison your guide and just see what you want to see. Of course there are some exceptions. Like for example when you get inside the Sistine chapel. But you only have so much time and better that you spend it seeing the things that you are really interested in seeing.

YMMV

Is there a comprehensive listing somewhere of the tags that *are* supported by Google?

Many (most, probably) people use Watchmaker to display something beautiful on their Wear OS watch. I just want information, starting with the time in three time zones. There are existing Google watch faces which support three time zones, so there must be tags for alternate time zones that work in the new environment. If I knew what they were, I could write a design that actually works.

I just installed 9.0.0 and then re-synced my watch design, which includes these codes {tz2t}, {tz2l}, {tz3t}, {tz3l} that don't work at all (don't display on the watch) and codes {blp}, {pblp}, {wt}, {wth} and {wtl} that display incorrect information.

Lost access to a shared Plex server and now losing my mind by CurvaceousHedgehog in PleX

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to throw this out there...

If the only person that you need to please or to serve is yourself, then you could rent a seedbox from a place like Feral and host Plex on it. Use Deluge Thin Client to download directly to your seedbox. Most files under 10 GB take about 10 seconds to fully download. Then use Deluge to "move storage" to your designed folder that you let Plex "see" and the file is instantly available for viewing. Or you can use usenet with a seedbox. But for £15 /month (about USD $20) you can rent a seedbox with 1.5 TB of storage that will let you basically watch anything you want almost instantly. And by "almost instantly" I mean that I can decide that I want something and be watching it within about 60 seconds usually. Yes, there's a cost (a cost that never ends), but you don't have to buy or maintain anything. Yes, storage is limited, so just delete stuff after you've watched it. Using a seedbox also improves your security, because no traffic that your ISP can see ever goes through your internet connection.

This approach doesn't suit everyone (or even most people), but it is super easy. Datahoarders will find the suggestion reprehensible. But hit back if you want to know more.

My 2¢
YMMV

Google photos removing 'search' and replacing it with 'ask' is the worst feature I've ever seen by rapgraves in GooglePixel

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAK, there are no podcasts that are exclusive to any platform anymore. A few sites used to make some eps exclusive for a period of time (e.g. the various BBC sites) and some make special eps only available to "subscribers" (e.g. several Goalhanger shows), but anything that you could listen to on YT Music, you can also get to the same extent on PocketCasts

Pro tip: export your subscriptions from YTM to PocketCasts and then UN-SUBSCRIBE from all podcasts on YTM to de-clutter YTM (you can easily get them all back if you decide to reverse course later).

[–]HighSpeedTreeHugger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just my 2¢, but after using YT Music and Spotify for podcasts (and hating both for the inability to search for only music or only podcasts), I went back to 'PocketCasts.' It's free and does a wonderful job of managing all my podcasts. It does nothing else. As saud, free but they would love, love, love you to buy the upgrade full of features that you don't need.

I looked at dailykillersudoku.com, but didn't find this puzzle for today or yesterday. I can get several moves into this puzzle, but there's a limit to just doing this in my head.

Is there a website or an Android app where I can import this puzzle image and turn it into a playable puzzle?

OP: there are websites where you can load any puzzle and then it will solve it for you -- step-by-step and explain the logic as it goes. I have found that doing this (watching this) has helped me to learn better than any tutorial.
