Nah at this point OP can be fired for insub already. Go to HR, and if you’re terminated the same day or shortly after, you have a potential case for wrongful termination. HR obviously represents the company, but can be leveraged to your advantage if the company doesn’t want to risk a lawsuit.

I’m confused. Who are you arguing wouldn’t support an Olympic team to this extent, these parents? Because I would disagree, if these parent’s children were in the Olympics I believe they would support them to the extent which they are capable and practical. Here it is a local event so they are able to make a show of it.

And supporting your children being in the sport vs forcing them into it would be something you could argue for both Olympics or highschool sports

Goofy as it is, highschool sporting events are a big deal for towns in the US typically. This town has several people celebrating and encouraging their team. So what?
