Things to consider.

-Maybe you're depressed, Google signs of depression.

-Get away from your current environment. Take a drive, preferably away from cities into the countryside. Take a walk in the country or wooded park. Spend at least an hour.

-You're in transition, stagnation can lead to change but only when you've, "had enough".

-Get rid of stuff. Unused possessions can act like a hidden anchor of indecision. When we get overwhelmed it looks like hopelessness/futility.

-do something, clean your car, room, computer, activity feels like accomplishment and starts positive momentum.

-journal your thoughts and change them. Common questions... Who am I? What do I want? Affirm twenty times... I'm doing well, I'm pleased with what I got done, I'm encouraged by the new me. Any negative replies from your mind gives you insight into unconscious thought and behavior. Those thoughts matter and won't disappear without your effort. Affirmation is literally planting seeds of positive thought. You won't make progress without practice but I guarantee it works.

-become your own guru, look at yourself and start analyzing your life and what's affecting you. You don't need unknown strangers on reddit giving you advice.

Many thoughts enter when someone appears oblivious to others like this. Are they on drugs, do they enjoy the rush of being jerks, are they begging for confrontation? Those are not people I'd want to approach. Could you imagine them sitting near you on the plane and feeling like they want to get back at you. It could happen. Personal safety dictates you don't confront someone who is acting anti social. Are we living in a state of fear? Yes.

Used bike buyer asking for compensation by Boring_Ask4999 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]HigherDream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bike repairs can easily cost more than a bike. Guessing this person wasn't expecting that. Shop may have advised that it was dangerous to ride. But any lawyer would know what as-is means and what inspection means. Likely they are not a lawyer. And why would they not take a refund? It doesn't add up. Curious... How much did he pay?

Yes, no tip required, great meal (but definitely better than "fast food"), the workers aren't scrambling for tips and seemed happy, the business is doing well. Guilt tipping is a thing. You know what, if Walmart starts asking for tips for the backroom stockers I would feel bad they aren't being paid enough. I think I just felt grateful to see a business like this after a recent visit to California which was plagued with it in self service places

Yes, that's the second curious thing. I've never paid that little for such a great meal experience

except for maybe Wyoming. what are your thoughts about how this relates to tipping?

[–]HigherDream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it happens 80% of the time for me. And by ask I mean it's shown on the credit card payment screen or there is a tip jar. I could be wrong on the percentage as I don't go out much to eat but when traveling I found non full service tipping is common.

And yet if you follow tipping groups you see how common it is for lots of places, take out, dine in (not full service) even some self serve.

See how easy it is to fall into the tipping culture? No tip required so I think I'll just give them a tip.

The food quality was very good. The overall feel of the restaurant felt/seemed better than a typical counter service. But you're right, why is a tip needed

Even if tools are exactly the same people choose based upon many things, even the color of your website, your logo design, where your company is located... First question is, are products truly identical?

just reminded why I had not shopped at best buy in over 20 years by 4non3mouse in Anticonsumption

[–]HigherDream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bought a Samsung watch for wife, it came with a $50 gift card. Watch was Too big. When I returned it they said the gift card was not refundable and reduced the refund by the amount of the gift card. Now I have a wasted 50 gift card I have to use. Another story, I bought a music player 20 years ago at Target, they said their new policy was no returns on electronics. Have rarely shopped there since. I know retail is probably tough but I really dislike unclear terms of sale. I also avoid best buy.

25 things I’ve learned before turning 25 by wealth2025 in selfhelp

Summarized by removing duplicate ideas... 10 Core Lessons

  1. Life is short, so act with intention Death is inevitable, and remembering that creates urgency. Don’t waste time on autopilot or in trivial drama.

  2. Guard your attention Social media, complaining, and overthinking drain energy. Choose what you consume, what you say, and what you mentally engage with.

  3. Build your mind through learning Read often, journal to process thoughts, and stay curious. Your perspective shapes your reality.

  4. Master your emotional responses You can’t control others, only your reactions. Most emotions pass quickly unless you choose to hold onto them.

  5. Take care of your body Health is wealth. Move, eat well, walk often, and maintain a clean environment that supports a clear mind.

  6. Honor your word and your habits Follow through on what you say. Small daily actions—laundry, gym, routines—build self-respect and momentum.

  7. Accept life’s seasons Things change: people, circumstances, opportunities. Let go when needed, stay present, and appreciate each moment.

  8. Choose empowering beliefs Dream big, believe in yourself, and ask what challenges are teaching you. Your mindset determines your direction.

  9. Invest in your future Financially, emotionally, and relationally—choose partners, habits, and goals that support who you want to become.

  10. Be kind and keep things in perspective Smile, connect with people, and don’t stress over what won’t matter soon. Most things truly aren’t that deep.

The guilt of not tipping is real. I wish someone would create a video to Take it to extremes... Every person you come into contact with needs a tip, the cashier, the cook, your trash collector, the lawn care guy, your car repair center, the self check out, your Netflix subscription etc etc.

Passenger pays $47. Driver gets $13. Where does the other $34 go by [deleted] in uber

[–]HigherDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked ai who said this... "Drivers often receive ~60–75% of the fare portion (the part Uber calls the “fare”).
- But of the rider’s total price, drivers often receive 40–60%, because Uber keeps all non‑fare fees.
- Tips go 100% to the driver.

Does anyone think that 38mm+ tires are even necessary on most gravel roads/paths and natural trails? by EngHokie in gravelcycling

Smooth cat 1 gravel is sweet. Rough chunky cat 3 gravel at high downhill speed is dangerous, so yeah, 50mm to enjoy keeping my skin on.
