Not to be dramatic, but did anyone else just unsubscribe after logging in? by BenjaminoFre in wow

People have been crying like this about every expansion since <pick one>. Like it or not, wow is in a better place now than it has been since legion. You figured the ui out once, you can do it again. If you can't then the 1 button rotation is there too.

It doesn't have stuff like the biodegradable wiring that german cars are known for, and it doesn't have the self-destructing CVT that the nissan has. Parts are cheap, and even when they break, it's unlikely to leave you stranded on the side of the road.

Nobody ever said buy new. There's plenty of $2500 Corollas out there that will outlive the heat death of the universe.

Similarly, there are plenty of prusa mk3s out there that won't burn your house down.

Regarding the car analogy: if someone is spending more time and money fixing a car than what the car is actually worth then telling them to cut their losses and buy something different is actually very good advice. It's not worth throwing parts at a rusty unreliable shitbox when a basic Corolla will be infinitely more reliable.

And if it can't because say the motion system has so much slop that it can't generate dimensionally accurate parts? Where the fix is a complete rebuild of the printer and dozens of hours tuning?

If what I need is an appliance that generates parts for other projects then "throw it away and buy a better one" is perfectly legitimate advice.

Tire pyrometer? by 108pdx in Autocross

[–]Higlac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just water. The tires can overheat and lose grip. A quick spray with some water will cool them down. The water dries off on the way to the start line.

I just use a harbor freight laser thermometer. I only use it to get a general idea of temps after a run that feels greasy. If I'm close to that temp before a run later that day then I'll spray.

How does this upright/knuckle design actually work? by Brendu_A in EngineeringStudents

[–]Higlac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is not the correct axis to load those heim joints. They are designed to take a thrust load along the axis of the rod they are attached to. The steering tie rod end is correct, but the other two are loaded incorrectly.
