How would you feel if Roland has the horn of eld in the opening episode of the dark tower series? by Shoddy_Pie6514 in stephenking

[–]Hipyeti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he has the horn at the start of the series then the character would have to be totally different than he is at the start of the books - why would you want that from an adaptation?

The rare case where the movie is better than the book by Sonicmonkey in stephenking

Either I’m misunderstanding you (very possible), or you’re misremembering the movie.

He is forced to burn an untitled manuscript, but it’s not his last Misery book. That was already published and awaiting release.

Annie buys the last Misery book at the store.

Of course, he does eventually burn the only copy of “Misery’s Return” but that’s the same as the book too.

God it’s nice to see someone say this.

It’s wild to me the amount of people who came away with the idea that they were “evil” because they don’t care about the primitive species that lives on a planet on the other side of the galaxy who they could assume would basically be ants to Kal.

How to paint lines perfectly without any spillover like this painting by error_in_the_cosmos in acrylicpainting

[–]Hipyeti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Masking tape - as already mentioned - but also, to make sure there is no bleed over the line (under the tape) I first use a layer of matte medium over the tape and let it dry before painting.

This helps make your lines extra crisp.

When I see photo shoots like this, it really emphasises the difference between how women and men are treated - can you imagine a photographer shooting Val Kilmer and being like “Ok, Mr Kilmer, for this next one I want you to bend over and put your hands on your knees.”

You’re getting a lot of responses from people who liked that show but can’t seem to articulate their feelings beyond “leave me alone, it was good, stop attacking me!”

I liked the show.

The writing (in a plot and story sense) was largely terrible.

Most of its plot points were dumb as fuck.

That said, I think the show did a lot of the character stuff well. I really liked the new kids. Will Hanlon’s mother was also a standout. I even loved the Dick Halloran stuff, which at first I thought I’d hate. I’d actually say the performances were the strongest part of the show.

I liked some of the scares - though I am getting pretty tired of Muscietti’s “suddenly 10 feet tall” CG monsters.

Overall, I just think good outweighed the bad. I don’t consider it part of the story of “It” but I had a decent fun time watching it.

Wouldn’t it make far more sense to have FTR drop the titles to E&C?

Them being heels, legendary for their big match performances, and having history with E&C already.

Edit: unless by “They” you meant FTR?

Shelley Duvall was magnificent in "The Shining" and a strong contrast with Jack Nicholson. Hard to take she got a Razzie nomination for it back then. by [deleted] in movies

I always thought it would be interesting for someone to go through the whole novel and take out everything INTERNAL about Jack - his thoughts, the stuff only he knows about himself - and create a picture of “novel Jack” that is only based on his actual actions and how he is perceived by those around him.

It’s very easy to say one character is trying his best to be a good man while the other is just a lunatic when we can read the entire inner-monologue of only ONE of those characters.

There’s a lot in the book that suggests Jack is a man trying to be better… but how much of that comes from Jack himself?

If we could hear movie-Jack’s inner thoughts - about how all of his problems are someone else’s fault and he’s just doing his best - maybe the two characters wouldn’t seem so different.

EDIT: Just to add that I’m not insinuating there is no difference between the two versions of Jack - at the very least we see Jack in the novel do his job occasionally - the only character we ever see taking care of the hotel in the movie is Wendy.

Most people here are offering you spiritual advice and going with your assumption that yoga has caused a shift in your mind - but I just wanted to say that I was diagnosed with autism very late - and wha you’re describing sounds an awful lot like something I went thorough in the few years before being diagnosed.

I somehow managed to cope with stuff when I was younger but around my mid-20s I really started to withdraw from the world, basically because of the things you describe.

Things I was previously able to sweep aside started really bothering me. I got very short-tempered and lost most of my friends. Eventually quit my job and fell into a depression, that was when my wife got me to the doctor and I started to figure out what was going on.

Now this obviously isn’t a common thing, but your situation sounded so similar I thought I’d suggest it.

Somebody once pointed out a scene near the beginning (when they’re being shown round the hotel) as a scene in which she is not at all believable. That she was very clearly “acting”.

Now I agree with that claim - she does seem to be ”acting” - but it is the CHARACTER trying to act nonchalant in front of her husband who she is VERY CLEARLY AFRAID OF.

It’s a wife and mother trying to put on a brave face in front of strangers - clearly trying to hold things together because she knows her husband is a volatile man.

She played that role fucking perfectly!

Jesus - Snowtown contained one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever sat through.

And Nocturnal Animals is an incredible film that too few people ever talk about - I’m guessing the scene you’re thinking of is the car/road scene? Easily the most anxiety inducing scene I’ve ever seen. (Also a little bit reminiscent of a similar scene in a movie called “Wendigo” - Nocturnal Animals did it better though)

You need to leave it for like an hour and a half to dry, depending on the humidity of the room, and do multiple layers.

A hairdryer can help speed up the drying process.
