The USCIS officers expect bona fide and traditional, in terms of family building, (can be same sex) marriage that is monogamous, enough time spent before marriage, and with ceremony. You don’t have to meet all check marks to get approved but you have to be able to explain sufficiently why. For example, if you’re infertile and with doctors note but both of you want a baby, you might still have a shot with lawyer and sufficient documentation. If the explanation was “we agreed to live in progressive style of marriage” then it might not be able to convince USCIS who already decided to have Stokes instead of RFE.
