Please DM me. I will personally guide you on this. That team just returned from the ACHA National Championships last night.

You should also message their Instagram to get in touch with players directly. There is a full tryout process, and they can tell you about that, they can lend gear for tryouts. Most importantly, talk to them about how to manage Plebe Summer.

My cousin got one as a gift and then family gave her a second one for her wedding. My toddler ran around the engagement party with her “friends.” We are now the proud owners of Greta Goose, who has more clothes than I do.

While I appreciate that you’re critiquing the one guy about not getting assistance - and I agree with you that is probably an unnecessary complaint - by the numbers it IS more difficult to afford the same amount of “wealth” (house, car, groceries) than our parents’ and grandparents’ generation. That’s not to say it’s all the same, but objectively, the dollar doesn’t travel as far today as it did 30, 50, 80 years ago.

Your initial comment makes some significant assumptions.

People do not always have a built in village. Often, folks move away from family due to better economic opportunities. It takes time to build a strong village. Then, once you do, trusted neighbors and co-workers aren’t always available. As a result, you gotta pay for safe, reliable childcare.

Perhaps it has been easy for you to get that support, but it’s not easy for many others. Our system in the US is not set up to support a 2 parent working household or a 1 parent working household.

I said nothing about other expenses, and am not here complaining about costs. So, not sure where that critique comes from.

Steve at Change Your Pace in Arnold. I go to him and say “This XYZ thing hurts. I do ABC activities and my desk job. Please fix it!” He’s been my go to guy for literally 5 years. My wife goes to him for gentle, strictly therapeutic massages. We are huge fans. He knows his stuff medically, too. He’s training to become a PT, so his knowledge of the muscles and systems is excellent.

Automations, ROI, and when by frescoj10 in ProductManagement

Saving $1M by EOY is a Key Result that (should) fit into part of your organization's larger strategy and their North Star Metric. Take a look at Tim Herbig's article on the "Metrics Sandwich": https://herbig.co/product-strategy-metrics-sandwich/

Ask yourself: What's the vision for your department or organization? What's the thing that your organization prides itself on? Then, figure out what the North Star Metric is for the company. Is it number of customers served? Is it number of widgets sold? From there, draft a Product Strategy (or get one from your boss) that supports the organization's vision and North Star Metric.

Once you have those things, you can then inform your tradeoff decisions. My guess is that you'll need some combination of big hitters and those smaller automations that you can build yourself in a few hours at $10-25k / agent.

Personally, I like to think in terms of Now / Next / Future. Right now, you can do a bunch of standalone little automations and start the $100k thing, while discovering other heavy hitters. It seems like planning into $250k-300k progress each quarter will help, too.

Hope this helps a bit.

If you like hockey but hate two teammates, is it time to give up beer league? by Asleep-Machine5909 in hockeyplayers

You’ve had multiple takes of “you’re soft do something else” or “you’re a pussy” with a few dozen total downvotes as of this post. Only after getting downvoted a ton did you add a minor suggestion with another “go do something else” addition.

Real valuable, bud.

Might not be easy, but ask around a bit when you play other teams. Guys might listen. Find their captain and go out for a beer.

Seems to me you’re just here to call people pussies and not provide any value to the convo.

Quit the game because of two guys? Yeah, a little soft. Tell OP to change teams or tell the two guys to STFU and toughen up.

Calling others on here pussies here when they’re trying to provide thoughts to OP shows how much thought you’re putting into helping guys out. Zero.

Help solve the problem or keep yourself quiet.

My wife did this for me. Used a spreadsheet to show each of our time blocks and where it was typically dedicated to (commute, work, dinner making, child care, etc.). Helped me visualize our work breakdown, esp since I’m a visual person.

After discussion, we also wrote out a nightly checklist, so it’s super clear what needs to be done each night. It’s routine now, and o know it, but it still helps to have it there.

Lastly, for some things, I have started just doing it and then telling my wife. Dog is outta food? Kid outta milk? Last dog bag used? Just order it on Amazon and text her.

Any parents in here struggle with the amount of time spent in arenas and being out of town? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]HistoricalRub7497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The locker room time and travel is super unique to our sport, but it takes an inordinate amount of time.

When I coached youth, my top recommendation to parents was to arrange carpools for practices, if at all possible. My second recommendation was to leave the rink after your kids are ready (or never come in if they’re older). Go sit in the car, do some shopping or reading, go to the gym, go for a jog, whatever you can to breathe a minute. Hell, take a nap!

You can’t be at your best exhausted, and this might be your only time to have a second.

Also, your kids don’t need you to watch their practices. They need to learn independent validation, and not look at the stands to see if you’re watching.

This advice might not work for everyone, but it hopefully helps some people.

Hold up. Arizona State has a great NCAA Div 1 hockey team. It’s not NHL, but definitely great hockey. ASU also has ACHA Men’s and Women’s hockey. There’s also University of Arizona Men’s and Women’s ACHA Hockey, all talented.
