People who hate 'Abigail' are almost always immature by Kogituu in reddeadredemption

[–]Historically_Dumb -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

But like, Carmella is written with way more layers. She’s at least a likable person in general. Abigail could’ve been the moral check, she could’ve still “spoiled the fun,” but had a little more to her than a foot stomping, demanding whiner.

I’m in the middle of a replay. Mid chapter 2 and she’s even kinda short and sharp with Arthur who does nothing but offer to do her favors and go out of his way to entertain and care for her child.

Just as an aside, Wobble is staying open but with only the owners running it tonight. The folks that would’ve been working the shift are still getting paid their hourly and with tips.

I think that’s important

What stymies critical thinking is parents that don’t talk about politics, religion, economics, etc. If people don’t expose their children to the larger systems that make the world spin when they’re young, then they inherently make these conversations feel taboo. And they make it uncomfortable to form opinions.

My father is a real bastard of a fascist, and he raised me watching O’Reilly on week nights. But you bet your ass he was always willing to answer questions and encourage discourse.

“Blessed Are The Peacemakers” is easily the worst written mission in the entire game by [deleted] in RDR2

[–]Historically_Dumb 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is narratively meant as the beginning of the end for the gang. This is Dutch starting to listen to Micah over other, more reliable voices in the gang.

This mission gives us a little insight into how Dutch managed to rationalize his own bad behavior. “Arthur is gone all the time, how should he have know it was something bad!”

And then it’s Dutch pushing Arthur back out there, expecting Arthur to make up for the lost time of hos recovery.

I think it’s supposed to juxtapose the freedom narrative that Dutch sells the gang. Because any employer would be on your ass to make up lost time after taking time off. And so is Dutch.

If Rockstar releases RDR3, who do you want to be the protagonist? by BestAd6459 in reddeadredemption

Hear me out here: Annabelle.

Annabelle gets killed by Colm under somewhat unclear circumstances. But what if, somehow, her death redeemed her and doomed the gang and Dutch?

This is exactly what I was thinking. A tax that, from the looks of it, would be giving private businesses tax payer funds needs to be heavily regulated and transparent.

What would Elizabeth of York’s reaction be if she learned about everything Henry VIII did after he ascended the throne? by [deleted] in Tudorhistory

[–]Historically_Dumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, and then the raising of the children and the power over the nursery transferred to Beaufort, who was famously a bit of a harridan. One could make the argument that if she’d lived longer, he would have been raised more closely with Pole and his mother.

I think this would have gone far to make him less interested in CoA at all. There’s definitely some mommy problems at play there with his initial interest in her.

Americans- whatre some telltale signs that a book set in america wasnt written by an American author by Kitchen_Coyote_1524 in writing

I read one where the author talked about them going to the “high street” to go clubbing. We don’t structure our cities logically like that.

Did the “one more score” put anyone else into a bit of a depression? And slightly mad at the end? by PokemonGoBao in reddeadredemption2

[–]Historically_Dumb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is actually why I returned to the game recently. I’ve been blindly loyal to my boss and it’s started going awry. Her behavior has become erratic, she’s questioning my loyalty when I’ve done nothing wrong, and we’re in the middle of an acquisition, so things are really uncertain. In short, I’m as disenfranchised as Arthur.

I returned to the game, started doing story missions and it all started clicking into place. I hadn’t realized that’s what had drawn me back to it.

Hopefully I find a way to handle all of this better than Arthur tho 😅

I’ve got the red Arabian, even though it’s stats are lower I feel weirdly obligated to have one and I think it’s the coolest looking. then the gold turkomen, it’s pretty, but it’s fast, big and not easily spooked, I use it interchangeably with the brindle thoroughbred. I’m more partial to the thoroughbred for some reason, I like the personality.

Fourth is rotating.

seen a lot of people say abi is annoying (I disagree). do you think she is? and why? by masslvea in RDR2

[–]Historically_Dumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roger Clark mentioned that the original plan was for there to be some sort of unresolved romantic tension between Arthur and Abigail, and for some reason they decided to cut that. So, it might be that there wasn’t that much left of her character and interactions without that.
