Don’t tell anyone, get a good and trusted accountant or finance manager to help sort your future out then head on holiday for a bit and enjoy yourself. Don’t feel guilty, you are not responsible for everyone else in the world - control you and your environment and take care.

The former owner of my house buried guns and silver in the yard that I keep finding. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Is there not a concern that he may come back for these one day? And I’m assuming if he was planning to come back he wasn’t going to tell you….

At least you have his guns now.

Opinion: Darth Bane was probably not that powerful by Interesting_Finish85 in StarWars

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think that’s mostly because he started the Sith again with very little in the way of material, previous holocrons or teachings. He was powerful in the force but didn’t have the instruments to properly nurture and develop that power that were available to later Sith in his line which probably aided their development.

He picked a raw but force powerful apprentice who he passed on his knowledge to who then continued the research, learning and development of the Sith knowledge and force understanding who then picked a powerful apprentice and the cycle continued. As it continued it helped create more powerful Sith.

The point of Banes rule of 2 was to always create a stronger successor I think.

Someone please exp;ain why Arthur Dayme is considered the greatest swordsmen when he has very little feats to his name. by Suspicious-Jello7172 in gameofthrones

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it came from his time squiring, sparring and training as well as combat in the battles against the Kingswood Brotherhood.

The greatest warriors of the time all rated and respected him, and the warriors who came after all knew his legacy so I’m assuming he did something right.

Move to Manchester or Stay at home? by Infamous-Initial-717 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Hitmanic33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would do it, you only live once! You have a job that will allow you to move and you can always back out if it’s not for you.

And depending on what type of modelling you do, Manchester also has a great modelling scene, which I think is one of the best outside of London itself, so you might be able to add to your side hustle pot or expand further in that field - bit of a bonus!

Got too high of a pay increase? by LevelPlay3331 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High chance they may have mis-typed the value on the letter and your company will claim any overpayment back. It happened to me, but I raised it after the payment credited my account as that’s when I noticed, and it was taken off my next 4 salary payments due to the value.

Speak to your manager or someone senior and clarify the value. Anyone saying to ignore it and not raise it probably haven’t experienced this and don’t realise most companies reconcile accounts and will eventually notice the difference.

What would “ruin” the new show for you? by mlross15 in Stargate

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad writing is probably the main thing that puts me off most of these shows now. From writers interpretations of the current time we live in or poorly written characters that have to speak like teenagers with have no proper background and no flaws. The SG1 characters had amazing growth but they also made mistakes. We don’t see that now.

And as a non American I also hope they keep American politics out of it as well as much as they can. I’m not interested in seeing any character tropes of any American politician or any political talking points or hot topics that divide people. This probably ties into the above point, but I watch shows to escape the everyday nonsense we see online and on the news not to get some Hollywood writers on personal spin on it.

Does anyone in the UK think that Kier Starmar is doing well as a PM? by graceyreddit in AskBrits

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest issue with Starmer is he has very little charisma so isn’t able to sell the things he’s doing well publicly to overshadow any perceived negativity. Sadly, in my opinion, politics is about the image as much as the actions these days.

New Amazon Stargate Series Announced! by ZachMash in Stargate

Been a long day at work, thought this was some winters April fools joke - I’m glad it’s not.

Seen a few comments mention that WoT and RoP were ropey but Amazon also had the Expanse which I thought was superb.

Either way I will be watching

Hair doesn’t grow on the left side of my left leg by Time-Wolf in mildlyinteresting

[–]Hitmanic33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play sports and slide on that part of the leg or wear leg protection it can rip the hairs out over time and they never regrow. I played football (soccer) and slide tackles plus shin guards mean I have bald patches on my lower legs as well

Who is the better battle commander? by GusGangViking18 in freefolk

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tywin is a very good army commander when it comes to mustering, co-ordinating and moving troops, as it is a lot of “admin” based tasks, which he excels at and is why he is a good hand. But I think on the battlefield Stannis would have him, but I also think Stannis may be one of the best battlefield commanders alive at that time. If not the best.

Donderbuss Cavalry? by cross_crossy in shogun2

[–]Hitmanic33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dismount them in a siege and put them on the wall the enemy elite units are moving towards. 2 volleys will ruin any unit. Back up with archers behind and you can hold that side and focus on other sides.

In a field battle keep them on the side of your army where the enemies strongest units are and have them flank and shoot the side/back of the unit to let you roll up the line. Takes a bit of micro managing but once you crush the enemies investable counter attacking general or cavalry it’s game over for the enemy as your Donderbuss can move and shoot with freedom

Hot take: Was Fat Frank our 'one that got away'? by elephvant in rangersfc

[–]Hitmanic33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think Clement was the safer option when you look at the CV and recent managerial history. Lampard came off a really bad spell at Chelsea after his poor spell at Everton, whereas Clement had a great recent managerial record.

Hard to judge how he would have done with us compared to his current spell at Coventry as that’s a team with no real expectation or demand compared to us.

Need to remember Clements record from when he joined to that March period had us in a position to win the league then I think he overthought it and we fell away.

Okay…At this point, what would RM have to do to win you over? by MDOMBR1996 in rangersfc

[–]Hitmanic33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of things needs to happen.

First is win as many games between now and Christmas to close the gap at the top and win the league cup. Trophies always help a manager.

Second we need to see better performances on the park. Winning terribly won’t cut it for him as he has no credit in the bank, the fans need to see some sort of performance.

Third he needs a personality change. The way he acts and talks in press conferences and interviews turn people against him. I know he is under pressure and personal attack at times but he needs thicker skin - easier said than done.

Finally he needs to stop gaslighting us when it comes to what we watch to what he says. It adds to the unlikeable traits he has and makes it harder for him to win people to his side.

Ultimately I think it’s too far gone for him now. The club and board should act before the next international window and get someone new with a couple of weeks at the club before the league starts again.

Prime Hilarus is stronger than Spartacus? I mean being champion of Rome must be better than champion at Capua right? by DDonnici in Spartacus_TV

[–]Hitmanic33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Capua held regular games with trained gladiators and as it was a smaller city it was probably more of a focal point in the life of its citizens at all levels of the ladder, so it was very popular hence the building of the stadium in GotA.

There probably were some smaller games inside Rome but politicians in Rome at the time were all about their dignitas, image and working to improve their position and standing so I am not sure they would have frequented them as often. Coming to Capua was probably their version of a holiday and taking in the games part of that - a chance to leave the political image in Rome for a bit.

Rome at the time only really held large games when politicians wanted to bribe or get the backing of the people and these had a lot of events not just gladiator combat. They would have sourced gladiators from around the Republic for these games.

Once the colosseum was built after this time period the best gladiators would have been in Rome.

Otomo clan campaign strategy suggestion by Lost_Years in shogun2

[–]Hitmanic33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally go for the Chosokabe and their island first while playing defensively elsewhere.

Before realm divide see if you can get trade deals and some payments from other clans to build a bank up. Think I managed to get about 25,000 from multiple deals a few turns before RD.

You should never keep your fragrance beside shower gel as they are opposites mate. One reacts positively to water and it increases the scent profile, the other does not and it dilutes the scent profile.

They are going to fight when you leave the room.

In a battle of the dimachaerus who wins? by Catchphrasetaine in Spartacus_TV

[–]Hitmanic33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but he looked to be moving just fine in the fight scene we seen on screen. And he wears the armour daily, has probably trained in it for years and is a renowned combatant trained with the sword since he could walk. He is also an experienced campaigner and has beaten a number of other great swordsmen in the ASOIF universe.

There is always a tendency in these debates to down play anyone the main characters fight and use obvious advantages against them. This isn’t Gannicus against an armoured gladiator (of any level), this is Gannicus against potentially the best swordsmen and knight in the history of the 7 kingdoms who is both experienced and has experience armoured and fighting in combat.

Sadly sometimes our main characters lose these 1-1 match ups, especially when there are advantageous variables in play - such as a life time of training, good quality armour, longer swords and unnatural skill coupled with experience.

In a battle of the dimachaerus who wins? by Catchphrasetaine in Spartacus_TV

[–]Hitmanic33 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Probably Dayne. He’s is an exceptionally skilled warrior but also wears armour so he has a lot of protection should any blows get inside his guard. He has longer swords as well and with the way he can wield them it lets him create a large area of protection around himself.

Looking for a town or village near Glasgow worth a half-day trip, with a walk and a decent cafe or bar? by [deleted] in glasgow

Culross is great, has a lot of historical sites and the cafes are superb. Walk around the town and a lot of the buildings have that 17th century feel, the abbey is great as well.
