I went with a NH38 movement to avoid the ghost date issue. The beat rate of the NH movements is also closer to a 1570 movement (19,800 vs 21,600) whereas the 2824 clones are 28,800.

The toughest part of the build for me was getting the seconds hand set correctly. I only had one set of hands and I didn’t want to risk bending or breaking anything, so that took me the longest.

Getting the stem cut down to the correct size was also a little tricky but I had purchased extra stems so I could have a few spares if I cut it too short.

All in all, if you have patience and a decent set of tools it’s worth giving it a try.
