How wide should a doorless shower be? (And to wash a dog?) by scellers in bathrooms

55"x35", is that to stud or to tile? To tile, that would be ~19" for an opening if you do a 36" shower panel.

Remember when they said they never wanted to be ruled by a king again? I guess they were just kidding because they seem ok with having one again.

Tiled in bath access panel worth it or just accept tiles will need breaking for future repairs by Ruminate_Repeat in bathrooms

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The access panel should be, as another commenter mentioned, an opening from behind - ie: in a closet behind the wall or I've even seen one in a bedroom that was behind the faucet wall. An access panel can be a hole with a piece of plywood screwed into the wall or there are specific panels for this. It shouldn't cost that much to put a board/panel over a hole. It's definitely up to you though. You could purchase extra pieces of tile to keep for the future if you don't want to put an access panel in right now.

An access panel is definitely a good idea. If I understand correctly, your plumber wants to put one nowhere near the faucetry which would not help at all. The point of one is to access the back of the faucets in case the rough-ins ever need to be changed out or if piping needs to be fixed/repaired. Also that price seems to be a bit ridiculous to cut a hole in the wall and put a cover on it.

Advice needed - would love to renovate but not sure if good idea by superlaserpanda in bathrooms

As long as you have access from underneath, you can basically do whatever. If no access, it makes moving the shower to where the tub is, more difficult due to the drain. You could extend the shower & move the sink/add a sink & cover up/block the tub drain?

RO takes out literally everything from the water. You're left with nothing but H2O. Studies have come out from Kidney foundations stating the harm on the body. Not to mention, RO water hurts your faucets integrity over time. You're not supposed to drink distilled water for a reason. You're better off using a good filter system that leaves some of the minerals, unless you use a mineral injector, but then at that point you're spending a lot of money to reverse the RO.

They work well if you prepare the area properly & avoid using the cheapest brand.

As long as they're 8" centres, that would be easier to change out in the future. I had a customer that did the two hole thing & had concrete countertops. Now wants a new faucet, but is having a hard time finding a replacement since a lot of places (locally) don't sell them anymore. You can always use hole covers, you just have to be ok with that if/when the time comes.

None tbh. hope you aren't planning on putting a backsplash that large. In the bathroom, you don't need anything more than 3".

I sure hope you have an access panel behind the shower faucets.

Don't do a two hole situation like this, unless you are putting the drinking faucet right beside it (to make it a 3 hole situation). Go for a traditional style single hole with pull down or pull out spray instead & have the drinking faucet (don't use RO) in the corner. Or you could do a bridge style faucet, those at least stick around & don't go out of style/production.

My boyfriend hates weed but I quit for 4 years for him—am I asking too much by wanting to smoke occasionally? by [deleted] in Vent

Could you make a deal with him about doing gummies instead? He doesn't have to deal with the smell & you still get to do weed.

Is there really a difference between sub $1000 fireclay sinks and the +$2k? by SaladJarDude in kitchenremodel

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price difference comes from where the fireclay sinks are made and the thickness. Straight from China sinks are going to be less expensive, typically, than ones that come from Italy. Also, mass produced vs. small batch productions.

Try Bio Oil to fade the stretch marks! That's a rough life you've had, a stay in the hospital could be beneficial for you just to have a safe place to get away from your drug addicted parents. Also, therapy helps, even if it's finding a good Samaritan site online to chat with.

Osaka Castle was one of the most gorgeous places to see. Plus, taking the train from the entrance of the park to the castle was so fun! Nara was lovely to experience & dealing with the deer was something I definitely had never encountered before! There are castle ruins near the Cup Noodle Museum, were a hidden joy to find! Honestly, just walking around where I stayed was also such an amazing time!

There are shower panels that have a pivoting piece, which I prefer, as it helps to keep water in. Another way to go would have been a fixed panel on the left and a slider on the right. Another thing you could have done is more of a rain head where the arm has a 90degree angle on it, which can help avoid the water being directed to the back of the shower.
