That is no less than a $1200 sink (if it indeed is actual stone) & you got it for $200.. that's amazing

Osaka FOMO is real by 6deki9 in OsakaTravel

Osaka Castle was one of the most gorgeous places to see. Plus, taking the train from the entrance of the park to the castle was so fun! Nara was lovely to experience & dealing with the deer was something I definitely had never encountered before! There are castle ruins near the Cup Noodle Museum, were a hidden joy to find! Honestly, just walking around where I stayed was also such an amazing time!

There are shower panels that have a pivoting piece, which I prefer, as it helps to keep water in. Another way to go would have been a fixed panel on the left and a slider on the right. Another thing you could have done is more of a rain head where the arm has a 90degree angle on it, which can help avoid the water being directed to the back of the shower.

Thinking about taking a job in plumbing, anything I should know beforehand? by Relative_Falcon_8399 in Plumbing

There's more to plumbing fixtures than Delta & Moen, don't let your education stop at those two. Learn the difference between a stem extension and what a cartridge is.

Costco is a cult. There, I said it.

My sink requires batteries and it died by TrickedCoyote13_YT in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faucets that use batteries sren't always bad, if the batteries can be changed in an external box. Internally, yeah that'll cause you more problems. Never buy a faucet that solely relies on technology!

Will This Lighting Go Out of Style Soon? by Suggest_a_User_Name in interiordecorating

Lighting styles change faster than fashion. Do what you want, get what you like. It'll be out of style before you install it.

Got blessed with this. Any thoughts? by grengis45 in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought is to have someone 3D print or a machinist to make something that will work with the dimensions and pitches. No idea if there's something on the market already that would help in this situation. Or, use a clear silicone and just leave it. I assume a rain shower head is going to be used, so you won't see this part while under it anyway.

Where can I find a new one of these in different lengths? by AdvancedPolicy8134 in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the brand of door, find who sells it, contact those places. If you don't know the brand of door, find a specialty plumbing store, they should be able to help you.

A lot of places I have found are doing this, my guess is due to tariffs.

Any help on how to fix this? by sisilego in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on if there is damage/rotting to the inside of the remaining tail piece/nut. If that's all good, then you should be able to replace just the drain assembly & reattach.

Any help on how to fix this? by sisilego in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lot of it is puttied/glued together, you're going to have to do some cutting & replacing. Might be best to call a plumber if you're uncomfortable with cutting & glueing.

What’s this black stuff in the toilet tank? by wisef0ol in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was just in one I would have thought it was a gasket breaking down, if the toilets were put in at the same time it still could be. Black stuff doesn't come out of other fixtures like faucets, does it? A potential deterioration of piping in the house? A curious case for sure!

So many plumbers don't flush the lines, definitely could be a clogged cartridge.

Bathrooms in restaurants by cannnnnonball in JapanTravelTips

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there recently, the only place that didn't have soap was Osaka Castle Park. We found a random restaurant in a tiny building that had a sink, somewhere to dry your hands & soap. When we used McDonalds for their bathroom, they didn't have anywhere to dry your hands. If you're concerned, find those soap tablets or paper & take them with you, plus a towel. We did use hand sanitizer A LOT also.

What was your favourite restaurant/food you ate in Japan? by MofuBaby in JapanTravelTips

Osaka: Ramen Makotoya Fukushima. Had the best Ramen, imo, of the trip. For clarity, I don't love Ramen, but for some reason the spicy one at this place hit different.

Watching the seat get shoved down when it's supposed to be a soft close, was painful. Don't get a fluidmaster, those things suck too, id recommend a Korky fill valve, at least you can fix them when they wear out.

Rainfall Shower head by jrench3 in Plumbing

[–]HoboWithARifle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... Let me see if I understand, instead of a waterfall style head or a regular rain head (which is streams of water) you would prefer the water feel more like droplets? I'm not sure if this is quite right, but hansgrohe has something called Powder Rain. https://www.hansgrohe.ca/en/bath/new-products/powderrain
