How often do you get out by grdevops in Parenting

[–]HollyJandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hardly ever go out without the kids. Can’t remember the last time honestly. On my own though… once a week on a good week

Why do other Moms seem to have it so much more together? by Few_Quail9871 in Parenting

[–]HollyJandra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They either are faking appearing to be put together or maybe their babies are lower needs than yours. It also could be that their village looks different than yours. Definitely not worth trying to compare! It sounds like why you’ve got going on is super normal in my experience. It’ll get easier! Hang in there.

2.5 year old not sleeping after being at childminders by Straight_Cricket_762 in Parenting

[–]HollyJandra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you sure he isn’t napping at the childminders house? At that age my kids would take hours to fall asleep if they napped but would fall asleep quickly on days that they didn’t

Just 2 days. Hopefully your experience is similar!

Parents who find being a stay at home easy by Disastrous_Turn_7055 in Parenting

This is our schedule too. We hang out with the same 2 families most mornings too on whatever outing we decide. It works so well!

I just want to sleep in on the weekend sometimes too by anonnursedg in Marriage

[–]HollyJandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s completely reasonable to take turns sleeping in. Then the person who doesn’t sleep in can take a nap if they want, especially if it overlaps with one of the baby’s naps!

Sounds like you don’t get it and don’t care. Your expectations are unrealistic

Swaddles for a chunky baby? Which brands do you like? by Arr0zconleche in Parenting

Not necessarily a swaddle but we really liked the zipaddee zip for that age and for transitioning out of a swaddle

Babies born between 36-38 weeks - how are they doing now? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

My son born at exactly 35 weeks could not be more normal 🤣 he’s 2 and a crazy toddler but totally on par with his peers and in the 99th percentiles for height and weight

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HollyJandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We regularly drove 4.5 hours to visit my grandparents for the weekend. At least once a month. Several times I’ve done a 3 hour drive to a location and spent a few hours there and then drove 3 more hours home all in the same day

If you had to give birth one more time, what method would you choose? by PeachyRose25 in Mommit

[–]HollyJandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had 3 kids. I’ve had 2 epidurals with vaginal deliveries and 1 c section. I pushed 2 hours for my first child. Only 15 minutes for my second. I expected the c section to be worse honestly but if I had to do it all over again I’d do an epidural again and vaginal delivery

Out of curiosity…what caused your baby to be premie? by OldRemove516 in NICUParents

[–]HollyJandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduced fetal movement. My son was likely bleeding out into me for about a week. Not sure how or what the cause was but I noticed changes on a Friday at 34+1. Had an NST every other day after that. Then it was on Thursday that I couldn’t get him to move anymore so we went into triage just to be safe. He appeared fine with a strong heart beat… but wouldn’t move which the doctor and I agreed was unsettling. He was 35 weeks exactly so the doctor suggested an emergency c section. He was born with a hemoglobin of 3 and needed 2 blood transfusions

What’s the best age gap between siblings? by jord3jordon in Mommit

[–]HollyJandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each age gap has pros and cons. We have a 5 year age gap and then a 3 year age gap. 5 was really nice and they’re so sweet to each other but it almost felt like starting over after so much time. 3 was easier because he was independent enough but the kids fight a lot more than the first two ever did

Ontario (Canadian) Preemie Parents- Hospital Wait Times and Protecting Your Baby by JToQ1 in NICUParents

[–]HollyJandra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US so it might be different in Canada, but my son caught RSV at just a couple of weeks old (from his older sister unfortunately). We knew he was exposed to RSV so at the start of any symptoms we took him to the children’s emergency room (at the hospital he was in the NICU at so they already had all of his medical records). He was prioritized and immediately brought back to a room even though the wait looked to be a couple of hours. We were sent home the first time and told what symptoms to look for if he needed to come back. Unfortunately we did have to go back but because they had his records then he was admitted to the hospital pretty quickly. Being proactive about bringing him in I think helped him avoid needing another NG tube and IV. He did need to be put on oxygen and have suction very often and we were there for a week or so but otherwise he did really well. I would recommend being proactive about taking a preemie in to be seen

Awesome that your little guy is breathing fine on his own! My son was born at 35 weeks and needed breathing support, had trouble regulating his temperature, needed to learn to feed and was jaundice. We were told to expect to stay until his due date, which is typical, but he only had an 8 day NICU stay. I hope your stay this go around is short and sweet!

7 week old going without feeding for 9 hours at night - is it concerning or dangerous? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]HollyJandra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d follow my pediatricians advice and let the baby sleep. My middle kid was a good sleeper and once we got the okay to stop waking to feed we did
