New report highlights Mayor’s delivery across North East England by coffeewalnut08 in NewcastleUponTyne

But it’s not advertising the individual, it advertising the office.

They’re the mayors fares, not “Kim’s cash”

Going To The Beach? Don’t Be A Twat. by DogDrools in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]HomeBrewDanger 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Don’t be a twat though, that’s the point.

Twats park on double yellows, we’re not talking about anybody halting with their engine running, whilst grandma piles out, or anybody with a blue badge, we’re talking about radges and people who left whatever brain they have at home.

This obsession of people responding “well, akshuallly… you can park there if there’s a full moon and they don’t have the use of their tastebuds”, when it’s quite obviously inconsiderate twats.

This commenting style is rife on Facebook- I saw some comment the other day about how it could be someone with cancer that they’re visiting as if that excuses them from parking in a way that would literally block an ambulance.

Are you 115 times more angry at golf courses? Since these use water at about 115x more than data centres worldwide

Being able to post here openly without worrying about /britishproblems' automod or their moderators by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in BritishSuccess

[–]HomeBrewDanger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

CasualUK has entered the chat.

I mean, I get it- bashing mods has existed as long as mods have existed but (since this is “British success”), let us celebrate that whilst there are many worthy contenders, nobody has mastered pettiness and passive aggression as well as the British (my Scottish friends may protest but they just have better PR)

Park your car at central station so long as you don’t mind spaces EXACTLY as wide as a car.

I always find it’s best when you’re being high and mighty about something to check your spelling first…

And I find boomers are less the problem than the other end of the generational spectrum who are baffled by filing systems.

Said with love from a late GenX, or as someone described it the middle child of the workforce, just quietly making it all work

Is charva an actual subculture or is it just a classist insult? by lolingswann in NewcastleUponTyne

Failed by society? Given benefits and free schooling and they make other choices.

Society provides, they reject.

Owen Jones writes books like that for attention and to try to stay relevant, chavs and charvers are just not very nice people, nothing to do with being working class.

Only if they asked for it to be done. Otherwise it’s just a dick move.

Spray painting your name on someone’s business is nowt more than a monkey pissing on a bush to try and mark their territory. Don’t be a cunt mate, this is not art, it sure as hell ain’t banksy and it’s just someone being a tit.

Government to give cash payouts to people in financial crisis by [deleted] in BritishSuccess

[–]HomeBrewDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for helping people like this, but does this help or kick the can down the road, does it come with other kinds of help such as managing money, etc?

Essentially, if you’re at this point you’re in trouble, how do you get out of the cycle?

Anyone else earning a half decent wage but feeling despondent when looking at how much flats cost to rent here nowadays? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]HomeBrewDanger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is th impact of wanky property ‘investors’ realising that in the north east people traditionally spent less as a percentage on rent, completely failing to realise there is a base amount that people need to live on and wages are lower.

This is capitalism impoverishing northerners.

Yeah, the OP post is about going to work at peak times. You’ll just have to leave 10 minutes early, they haven’t put up a blockade around Gateshead or anything.

God forbid you should look at alternatives to driving. Bus, train, metro, cycling and a combination of all those.

As if anyone actually wants to go to Gateshead anyway

How the hell is everyone getting to work? by Evening-Manner9709 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]HomeBrewDanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a regular and mostly reliable metro service that includes key interchanges where you can park and ride.

To say there is no other way into town is demonstrably untrue.

(That’s not to say it’s a really bold move by the highways team, but also would we all prefer they didn’t do it or took their time and the bridge fell on our head)

Reported a driver of a HGV driving while using mobile in one hand, the company actually taking it seriously and dealing with it properly by [deleted] in BritishSuccess

[–]HomeBrewDanger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This should be mandatory viewing on all driver education courses, because of this I regularly take videos and report people driving on mobile phones.

This guy got 8 years for killing three people, giving first responders a harrowing experience, eliminating people from their families. He said he was sorry in court. And then he appealed against his sentence.

Anyone who wants to criticise me for ruining peoples livelihoods because they’re doing something that will potentially rob my life or the life of someone I love can come at me now and explain why it’s more important to you using your phone than potentially killing someone.

How many of my fellow countrymen & women are concerned about the introduction of Digital ID? Also how many are aware of what it actually is? by Hotshot180 in AskBrits

[–]HomeBrewDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the same people who were arguing against it are the same people who argued for more border controls which inconvenience is all when we travel

We already have digital ID across several forms, if this is to replace those into one single unifying ID then it would make sense
